Ok, I really don't get it. I just don't. To me, this is the EASIEST Halo game on legendary, and only a few parts are even remotely challenging.

But still, Halo Combat Evolved has the best campaign runnin' in the Halo series. Multiplayer was fun too, though.

Proud member of ReadyUpLive!

I'm currently working on beating Halo CE on Legendary, I only have 2 more levels to go,

Captain Keyes and Truth and Reconciliation.

All my opinion.

Tbh completing a level on Legendary is just trial and error thanks to the checkpoint system.
Try no death runs or reverts on Legendary, those are much more difficult.

My fave for making the game harder is no death, no health pack, no reloads on any magazine type weapon. That can be nuts! I also like to play certain levels with no rounds fired at all, from any weapon, melee and grenades only. Yeah, I am stupid!

Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

From what i've seen, it depends on where you started playing Halo. Many that i've seen that started with Halo 2/3 have a hard time in CE due to the straighforward gameplay (no weapon combos) and general lack of resilience compared to the latter titles.

The only difficulty I found in Halo 2 legendary was the very first level with all those damn Elites, and once you pickup the PP/BR combo, the difficulty vanishes. Halo 3 just wasn't really challenging at all IMO. The only level I hit any snag on was that terrible Cortana level, and that was only because of the Flood ranged forms.

I haven't gotten past Outskirts on the stupid Halo 2 legendary because of the damned sniper jackals. They are ridiculously accurate in Halo 2, I swear, I stick my head out for a fraction of a second just to shoot him in the head with my sniper rifle, and I'm dead.

So far, Halo 2 is the only legendary I haven't conquered.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

The library, I presume.

you can just run past them by going on the roofs you know

There is enough dead marines with boxes of Sniper ammo, where you don't have to go too long without getting resupplied. I wish there was a way to tweak the old box into trading the M6D for the sniper. That would be a riot.
A weapon with good range is the needler. If you have an appreciation for it strengths, it destroys elites at long range in the hangar areas.
Ever try that level without using the sniper on Legendary? Surprisingly easy.

The Sausage King of Chicago.

I just beat it on Legendary two days ago.

Here's a challenge: beat the game without loosing a single ally. I managed to do so on my first run through the campaign (as I had been doing that on every difficulty level), but it added about an hour to each level. I even managed to save those two unarmed crew members on TPoA that run out and are being chased by covies coming out of two doors, right after you crouch under the half open door with the dead guy with a magnum in front of it. Yeah, I even managed to get all of the marines out of 343 Guilty Spark once, but just barely. It took many Reverts to last checkpoints, but I managed two do it. So yeah, come back to us when you can do that. Sure make the game a lot harder.

The cake is a lie, but the cube is forever.

I think the absolute hardest part of that game on legendary is protecting Keyes after you rescue him from the cell block. That man has a death wish and he makes it come true...

Nice job beating it on legendary...wow haha and I thought it was good to beat everything on heroic...

Personally, in my failed tries at Legendary, (of the covenant), the Elites are the hardest enemies by far. The grunts are easy to kill by doing the duck/crouch/duck or plasma grenades. The hunters are extremely easy to kill, all you have to do is shoot it in the stomach/back with a pistol or plasma rifle a couple times. And bunny hop it a lot.

It's been the Elites stopping me every time. How do you beat those things?

  • 06.24.2010 10:12 PM PDT

Plasma pistol/M-6D combo is death on any elite in the game. An elite without his shields is no more dangerous than a grunt.
Also, you can't kill any elite without them dropping a sticky or two. Learn to think stickies are a weapon you start an engagement with. You ought to be good enough with them to affix one to any target that is unaware you are viewing him. AotCR is a prime example of this.

The needler will kill any elite going with one clip. Harder to use in areas with lots of cover, but doable. Learn to charge forward when firing in large open maps like 'Halo' or SC to keep elites from dodging your incoming needles. The extra speed generated by you running forward is enough to prevent this.

Plasma rifle is effective if you close towards them in a circular motion while draining their shields with your fire. When you overheat just step forward and whack them. Be prepared to dodge when they whack you back. I've had limited results agains Golds, but Reds and blues are easy to kill with this method.

"Die?" Kurt laughed. "Didn't you know? Spartans never die."

congrats. I thought it was one of the tougher campaigns of the whole Halo series, except for a few parts in Halo 3 such as Tsavo Highway or Cortana. The last level's warthog run was really hard in Halo: CE, without checkpoints for the whole thing.

I'm proud to say I've beat every game on Legendary, except for about half of Halo 2, which I imagine were pretty tough.

Huh? The enemies were the most intelligent in CE. In H2 and 3 (particularly 2) the enemies were waiting for you and just dealt a lot of damage, you only had to find "the way" and try until you get it right, in CE you had to retreat and the AI was more challenging.

Personally i think H1 is slightly easier on Legendary, but mainly because it is fairer.

Too many times on the other games and especially H2, you are punished without having much chance to do anything about it. H1 legendary punishes you for you mistakes, H2, punishes you until you learn the position of every sniper jackal in an area...

Yeah, I think Halo:CE was the most difficult on Legendary. There was no such thing as noob combo or any of that then. And your weapons were pretty limited. I thought The Library was the hardest level on Legendary....so...many...Flood!!!
Halo 2 would have been the Cairo Station
Halo 3, there was no hard level on Legendary I thought.

Sure there was. Plasma Pistol / Human Pistol.

The second level would be much tougher because it's pretty open without being able to PP/Headshot the Elites.

on my 10th time i hate T&R but the libary was easy for me

  • 07.06.2010 6:49 PM PDT

i never understand why people have so much trouble with halo ce on legendary. imo it is the easiest of the halos by far. t&r is the hardest level though, harder than the library
