Subject: Buck's a spartan canidate

You know that character Buck from ODST, I have reason to beleive that he's one of those 75 spartan ccanidates that failed to make it into the program (You'll know what I'm talking about if you read the books) because his bio said that if he were any better he'd be a spartan, plus, also in his bio, it said that Buck's age is 42 years, and of all the spartans known it is beleived their age is 41 years, however that is only assumed, so Buck could be the right age!

Finding the love of my life, and moving house really screwed up my gaming orientated lifestyle.

I can see your reasoning but a lot of other things just don't add up (for this to be possible).

What does this have to do with Halo 3?

I'm in it 4 teh lulz.

Maybe he was one of the thousands considered, but he was likely never in the program.

This has to be posted within the odst forum

just wondering, but what doesn't add up?

Well there is the description in his bio and everything, but I took a close note about Buck back from ODST.

* Buck couldn't push a brute chief off of him, unless he is playing weak.

My best guess,
Like Johnson, I think Buck may have been one of the candidates for the Spartan I project. Where we see Johnson and know something has to be more of a combative edge to the man, but Johnson doesn't portray any huge feats of strength like Master Chief does. Also Buck is 6'1" and Spartan II are much taller. I do have a lot of reason to believe that Buck could be one of the Spartan I test subjects.

Additionally, like many others, we all know Buck has to have some role in Reach. There have also been a lot of speculation about the comparison of Halo: Reach's Noble 6 to The 7 Samurai. The 7th Samurai was not an actual Samurai, but wanted to be one. I love the direction that the writers of bungie have taken to making allegories like Halo 3: ODST was (In my opinion) a very well written reference to Dante's Inferno (especially with the nickname to ODST are Helljumpers, such a great idea).

Who knows? The Noble 6 could be an allegory to the 7 Samurai. Buck could be one of the Spartan I test subjects. Like the 7th Samurai who wished to be one, Buck could possibly be that one Spartan, since the Spartan I were technically a failed project.

Or of course, Buck could just be a cameo appearance in Reach so we know what he did and how he survived Reach. I think you have to be a bit skeptical with the easter eggs and teasers Bungie puts everywhere though.

The Past Is For Reference Not For Residents

They probally would of mentioned something in odst if he was

The Spartans in Halo Reach are in no way relative to the Spartan I Project as the Spartan I project failed and buck being considered for the Spartan Project isn't likely as all the Spartan II's were kidnapped at a young age and replaced with clones that later died of natural causes to throw suspicion off the UNSC, only 75 children were chosen for the SPartan II project and only 33 survived augmentation.

This is my jungle!

Intresting thought though I always thought it was just the thought of if he was even more special he coul'dve been a spartan.Thing is spartan 2 no spartan 1's possiblity 3's no.And disguising him as an ODST just doesnt work.

If any spartan probably a 1 as yes they were a failed project but many of them were relocated to alternate military postions.I wouldnt my to far fetched he wouldnt have to much strength look at johnson he had a hard time with cheiftans in halo3.
