You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

Heres is a dream of mine, what if during campaign mode your playing and the weather changes as you are playing, not, level by level, but while you one one level the weather changes, or during mp, its sunny when you start but it gradualy gets dark while your playing or it is sunny and the longer you play it starts to rain and so on and so forth. If this has been posted, dont bother to flame me, just stay off my ass. ;-) Have a nice day!

That'd be cool, but it would be a -blam!- for Bungie to do it right.

weather would be awesome but what if the maps changed to what time of day it is for example if it was 12 at night it would be pitch dark and you could barely make out your opponents

Exactly, or just pick a map and its weather for the whole match, either way, i wantto play in really bad thunder storms, i yearn to play in really bad thunderstorms, where the lightning flashes rain beaing on my armor, which by the way would be cool if i could hear it beating on my armor and hear the thunder roll through my armor.

Bungie might be doing that, because in a weekly update a while ago, they said that mp maps would feel more alive with blowing whistling wind in surround sound, and I forget if they mentioned weather.

I think weather would be a awesome idea... totally sweet if they could do it.

p.s. stfu_final where did you get that quote from frankie?

Here is something I wrote a couple of months ago that kind of goes along the same lines of what you're talking about.

Many people agreed with this one. It is titled, " "PROOF" Customizable Weather In Halo 2 MP!!!

I’ve heard much discussion about the possibility of having a customizable weather option in Halo 2 MP. Most of these discussions have centered around fans hopes and wishes with nothing to back them up. I decided to do a little investigating on the subject, and what I found is quite interesting.

I’ll present the evidence first, for those of you who absolutely have to see it. This isn't some rumor, you can see this "evidence" with your own eyes! The evidence is two videos from E3. The first video (most of you probably have a copy of this video already) is of the Microsoft Press Conference Halo 2 MP demo. There is a high res and a low res, if you want to download it, at FilePlanet.com. Once you have downloaded it, fast forward towards the end of the video when a tutorial is given of the level Zanzibar... when the camera flies around the level. The other video is from OpaAges.com. It is video of a Bungie employee giving a tutorial of the level Zanzibar in the “Bungie booth.” Here are the links for those of you who want to watch them.

FilePlanet - CLICK HERE

Opa Ages - CLICK HERE (May take a few seconds to load)

These two videos are of the exact same thing; except, they are taken at completely different times. One is at the press conference, and the other is behind doors at the Bungie E3 booth. If you watch the videos, you should notice exactly what I did. In the press conference video there are dark clouds and skies, not much sunlight, soft shadows, not many reflections off of the surrounding environment, and if you watch the beginning you can hear what appears to be thunder in the background. In the Opa Ages video there are bright reflections, bright skies, darker shadows, white clouds, and blue skies. This has nothing to do with the quality of the video or video noise. Both of the places I have given to download these videos give great quality videos.

I think this means one of two things.
1. - The weather changes while in play during MP.
Or
2. - You have the option to customize the weather before the level begins in MP.

While I personally belive both of these are likely in the final product, I think that the 2nd one is more likely in this particular situation. Why? If you’ll notice, both of the videos are tutorials, not actual game play. These videos are taken BEFORE the CTF round begins.

P.S.
There was one other interesting thing I noticed. If you watch the bridge fall down to the huge fan with the energy sword under it, you’ll notice that the bridge reacts differently (while it is settling down) in the Opa Ages video, than in the press conference video. This could be because the envionment reacts to different wind speeds? Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or do you guys see what I’m talking about?

why woudl that be a -blam!-, other game studios have done it in many different games to great effect.

Thanks Eagle! Good eye, and thanks for digging that up again, I think I may have read your thread a while back, but I have since forgotten it. Thanks again.

I mean for Bungie to do it so the weather wouldn't change too fast and just end up raining 5 minutes into every match. But yeah, it's possible.

January 30, 2004 (Warthog's Day)
The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

To go along with what Eagle 117 said. Here is some pictures I captured from the two videos.

Dark from the press conference
Bright from the OPA pages of actuall gameplay during E3

I think that would be kinda cool. Also the time of day being determined by the clock on your xbox… that would awesome.
