Depending on what video and sound editing software came with your computer, you may need to find software that will let you do voice-overs easily and sync other audio in "post production". Depending on what you need to do and your level of experience with modeling and animation, some additional cg software might be needed.
Some unsolicited advice: If you're doing a fiction rather than montages, and you're not planning on adding a lot of special effects or custom designed objects and animation, you're going to want to focus on an original story, solid acting and creative editing if you want to set yourself apart from the crowd. Watch as much as you can and see what others have done, or think about whether your story is too predictable. If you're setting your story in the Halo universe this is especially critical, as you're going to want to either make it explicitly clear when and where the story is taking place from the start, or reveal more and more specific details as the story progresses. If you haven't done much creative writing, pick up a book on that, or an anthology of SF short stories, or a book on whatever subject will give your story interesting detail.
