Hi there, this is my first thread on the forums here so good morning to all.
As far as the whole specualtion on the 24th (T-20) it could be anything from new info and pics, news on a possible movie or maybe a anime version of Halo. Who knows?
Myself, what I am hoping for is an announcement that the Covenant is attacking Earth and in the OXM on the disc a special treat from Bungie, a movie of the Covenant assault force exploding in from hyperspace and the initial assault on the massed Earth fleet trying to save humanity.
From that point every few weeks there could be a new snippet of info, a new movie describing what is happening on Earth so you know what happens up until the point where you pick up Halo 2, and you just start the game on November 9, a couple of months into the assault and with fresh images of the war burned into your mind.
I hope its not the revelation of the new race, I want that to be a total surprise to me (no reading reviews here, my copy is pre-purchased in full) and with regards to the new race, if they do make their entrance on Earth then I hope it happens right as the humans are about to win or thought they have won, otherwise I would hope that they are a powerful new enemy and that the Covenant really aren't the bad guys (mistakes and violations of unknown religious laws leading to genocidal acts, it wouldn't be a first in OUR species) and that the Covies and MC John team up against the new threat, and there would be some Covies that wouldn't be so understanding and forgiving of the MC and how he is so superior to their own forces and training.
Which brings up another little tidbit -- why did the whole war start? Personally, I think it is because the humans raided an old Forerunner installation, one that was viewed as sacred by the Covenant, and the Mjolnir suit was tech from the facility, which is why Guilty Spark recognized it and wondered why MC wasn't wearing a more advanced suit. That could also be why the Earth forces are able to have powerful suits of armor but not have the people capable of wearing them yet. Funny, huh? Normally you build weapons to suit people, not build people so suit weapons. Then there is also the whole Mjolnir versus Spartan point. Why have the suit's name be based off of Norse mythology and the soldiers (Spartans) based off of Greek culture? You would think that they would name the suit after a Greek weapon, one that a Spartan would have used. Two opposing religions, two ways of living, maybe a subtle hint that they were trying to breed a superior human to wield a weapon of the gods. Mjolnir, after all, was the hammer of Thor, the god of thunder. A mortal wielding the weapon of a god, a human wearing the armor of a Forerunner. I can't wait to find out.
Thanks Bungie for the games and the insight into each of them, and I can't wait to play more of them in the future.
