How does Halo 2 compare to the other FPS's in the Halo series in your mind? I can't decide where to place Reach, but otherwise I think the games got progressively worse. In Halo CE, we all loved the epic campaign and solid balanced and fun multiplayer. In Halo 2, we also loved the campaign, but most of the replayability came from the glitches not the perfect balance and fun. I am not saying that it wasn't fun, in fact, I loved it, but the glitches were such a huge part of it and the balance was off. Finally, in Halo 3 we only played the campaign to get better armor, and the only reason it's still going is because of Forge, which is not a good reason. We should be playing it because we love the balanced, fun standard gameplay. As for Reach, the beta was pretty cool, but we of course have no idea if we it will have as good a campaign as 2 or CE, and MP still has some questions around it.

So where do they rank and why?

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

1. Halo CE
2. Halo 2
3. Halo: Reach
4. Halo 3
5. Halo 3: ODST

Halo CE is just amazing, the amazing, vast environments were something new to me, and it just blew my mind. The game is beautiful, the gameplay is fun, and doesn't get boring.

Halo 2 has some of the best multiplayer I've ever experienced. This game was a revolution for gaming, and for my gaming life. It brings so many memories, and I really don't understand how Microsoft could shut off the multiplayer for XBL. The campaign was also really great, the story that was told was very deep, and interesting.

From what I've played of Halo: Reach, I already like it better than Halo 3/ODST. The gameplay is much more complex and tactical compared to Halo 3, and everything just kind of works out in the multiplayer. The weapons are balanced, and each play their own unique role.

Halo 3 also brings back some great memories. But, the multiplayer was too repetitive, and got boring pretty fast. Well, I guess it took 12,000 games, but you know what I mean. The campaign was really disappointing, the story just didn't seem complete, and definitely doesn't compare to the previous Halo games.

Halo 3: ODST was a huge disappointment. I beat the game solo legendary in about 2 days, and got every achievement in a week. What's left? There was nothing for me to do. $60 for a game that lasted a week? Pretty disappointing. Though, the campaign was actually pretty fun, it was too easy, and too short.

Don't ever create a "Halo vs Halo" topic again
Not only did you create a fail topic, but OP fails too.

Please explain how this fails in any way. Is it really just because you hate these topics?

You must be very oblivious to a good post and a bad post.

I prefered Halo CEs campaign because of the diversity of the missions. First your in the closed in hallways of the Autumn then you step into an enormous alien world. Then through the rest of the series the multiplayer got gradually better and the campaign gradually got worst

campaign:
1.Halo 2
2.Halo 3
3.Halo 1
4.Halo 3 Odst
In halo 2 you play as the elites and humans, this is what halo 3 lacks for first place even though it has good storyline. Halo 1 was ok. Odst was just a rip off for campaign.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
multiplayer:
1.Halo 2
2.Halo 3/odst
3.Halo 1
Halo 2 had a real memorable multiplayer experience with alot of fun. Halo 3 was one of the best and is tied with odst because they're the same but odst was released later. With odst u have the opportunity to get recon. Halo 1 is last because it was outstanding at that time but compared the the other halo titles it isn't the best one but not the worst.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I did not mention Halo reach because the game has not come out yet and most of us have only tried the beta.

Silence fills the empty grave, now that I have gone
But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on

Halo 2 wins everything when it comes to Campaign. Neither Halo 1 or 3 can compare to it.

Halo 2 will always hold the most magic for me, even though the Halo game which I play most frequently is Halo:CE. Halo 2 had an amazing multiplayer component, the likes of which sets it apart from the rest. Its campaign was enjoyable and well designed, and its "in-between innovations" sort of graphics are enough to prompt nostalgia at a glance. Halo 2 machinima was some of the greatest it has ever been my pleasure to view, and the fact that it was Halo 2 that attracted me to the franchise itself sets the game apart in my mind yet again. So...

1.Halo 2
2.Halo 1 PC
3.Halo:CE (Xbox original)
4.Halo 3
5.Halo 3:ODST

I know not where I stand on Reach, I haven't had the benefit of playing the demo.

Halo 3 is still going because of Forge? So 100,000+ people playing matchmacking at times is because of Forge?

You Fail.

Halo 2 was the best Campaign ever. People seem to think that the online was best as well. I personally like Halo Reach's live the most, and Campaign looks good.

Halo 2 is an obvious improvement over Halo CE. Anyone who denies that is just letting nostalgia get in the way of sound judgement. However, Halo 3 is a big step down. Much of the tech is vastly improved, but the overall gaming experience is severely worse than Halo 2. ODST is better than Halo 3, but still nowhere near Halo 2. From What I could tell of Reach in the Beta, it will be better than Halo 2 in MP, and lets hope it can surpass it in the campaign, but that is a tall order.
