Subject: Anyone else love The Library?

I see a lot of hate based around it.

I LOVE the Library. Most people say it sucks because its a whole lot of confusion and seemingly pointless action, as well as wave upon wave of flood attack, but thats what I love about it. So intense!

at least it has a point in life

I love the Library, I found its creepyness and 'difficulty' fun. I honestly think that Flood levels are easier than covie ones, but that's probably because I almost never switch out weapons.

i agree with you on the difficulty part. most of the endless flood spawns in this lvl can be easily avoided

  • 06.24.2010 7:05 AM PDT

I'll put it this way...I've beaten every single CE level on Heroic except this one. Not only is it too difficult because the flood are hard to kill (no snipe, no melee, etc.) and because its extremely tedious, and all the floors feel very similar.

EDIT - oh and the flood usually have much more powerful weapons than the covenant. yes, you can pick the shotguns/rl's up when you kill the flood, but if you're fighting covenant, the weapons they drop are the most effective against THEM, not YOU.

@zorgot13 - HOW can you avoid the flood spawns?!

I love The Library. Every time I play through it, I only use the Magnum. It's pretty cool just popping shots into Combat Forms, and causing chain reaction explosions on Infection Forms.

Carrier Forms... Well, I pop one shot in their gut, and then do the chain reaction thing.

Some people find this level hard? I found it obscenely easy. Basically just spam at whatever is closest, particularly seeing as the shotgun in the first one is overpowered. A hard level: Truth and Reconciliation.

  • 06.25.2010 12:51 AM PDT

I remember the first time I played it on easy co-op and found it hard, and within a few days I played it on normal solo and didn't die once. :P

I like it, not my favorite level, but a good one none the less.

I don't hate it. I mean it is annoying when you can't talk and people are always shushing you. Also when you forget your library card you want to scream but you can't.

Lol:)

I remember the first time I played it, I kept getting lost and was scared to death of the flood and their seemingly infinite numbers (found out later they really were infinite lol). It was incredibly intense and I started to get frustrated after a while of running in circles, but after I got the layout down it's a fun level. It's damn tough if you don't have a shotgun, and even if you do there's a few parts that push me to the limit on legendary.

I think that most people played it once and were annoyed by the confusing layout and tough difficulty, but if you play it enough it grows on you and becomes a solid level to play.

"Die?" Kurt laughed. "Didn't you know? Spartans never die."

I thought the level was a tad too repetitive. And it was one of the harder missions on solo Legendary, I don't remember how I got through it. I have always enjoyed defensive games though, and the back against the wall style of play in the Library on normal and heroic was fun.

The Library, while criticised by some, is anything but boring. I remember struggling to stay alive whilst wandering its seemingly endless corridors, hoping and praying that the next bend would give way to an illuminated elevator shaft, but alas, 'twas not to be. I really enjoyed getting some use out of the shotgun, destroying multiple infection forms in a single burst, dropping hail after hail of bullets upon the little devils. I have to say, it was the Human Combat Forms that both creeped me out and slapped me down the most often. God forbid they get their decaying hands on a Rocket Launcher...Yep, I really enjoyed The Library, and I won't ever forget it.

I loved that mission. It felt like the odds were against you, and you were literally fighting with your back against the wall. You had to pick up any weapon you could get your hands on and watch almost EVERY corner. The intensity was just amazing!!

I absolutely hated it the first time I played through it. I had no idea how to fight that much flood at once, the level design was extremely repetitive (4 floors that look exactly the same? hell no), it was kind of confusing because I kept running past the same spot over and over, and because I constantly felt like I was being left behind while 343 kept about his way.

It was alright the 2nd time, though. I knew what I was doing and where I was supposed to go. The level design sickened me, though. Once you play through that level once, you feel like you've played through it like 4 times.

U mad?

I absolutely LOVED it! It just created so many memories. The endless halls and occassionally seeing your Sentinel buddies come to help you and then stop following you when you went up a level. I mean seriously wtf? But it made Halo unique and it made you appreciate Bungie more. I was soooo sad when you reach the Library in Halo 2 as the Arbiter but you go right to the Index instead of having to re-live Halo: CE. I saw the big door, the familiar setting as you enter the Library after exiting the Gondola, and heard the Elite say "The Library of Our Lords!" But no long corridors or elevators...no 2 hour level (on Legendary)...just a single familiar room and some dead Sentinel Enforcers and dead Marines.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Honestly I really enjoyed it. There were some parts where I thought to myself "my god when will this end". But I was a youngin when I played this game for the first time and it kept the heart pounding.

A hard level: Truth and Reconciliation.
This, It took me about 4 hours and about 20+ deaths to beat on HEROIC. Solo that is.

The Library is my favorite level from CE. Back in the day I would play it over and over when I got bored. There is a great balance of difficulty and action. Plus, I like the dark/confining feel of the level.

*Sips tea*

Legendary + Library is a challenge I'm proud to say I've passed.
