CE as in Custom Edition? Then CE is better. Improved netcode, more maps, etc.

If you're comparing the multiplayer, I'd say Custom Edition. If you bring in the Campaign mode, of course I'd have to give it to PC.

it would have to be multiplayer, since ce doesnt have a campaign. you cant really compare a campaign to multiplayer. and i voted for ce.

Use Flood-B-Gone daily to keep your rotting corpse dead...

At the moment, I'd...have to go with PC most of the time. There's still better game variety on PC servers than Custom Edition. As far as actual play when I can find the game I want (and ping, mustn't forget good ping): CE all the way. but it's too hard to find them, and beging the server to put up a new map gets real old real quick. i can't host big games with my DSL speed, so i'm stuck with whats out there or with a 4 person game when I host what I want to play.

But keep the thread up; this may be a good way to get some folks to start hosting those nice, big, juicy games in CE.

1)Learn to spell "Which" correctly in your subject. I do believe you can edit that right now.
2)Halo PC simply has more servers and people online than halo CE.

Halo CE "supposedly" has some improvements such as better graphics performance, improved network code for less warping. The main thing is being able to use custom maps. This allows for the creation of "halo 2" maps, the closest thing we have to halo 2 pc today.

But, how do you explain the few number of players online on halo CE?
1) it's a huge 100-200 MB download, which doesn't go over well with dialup users.
2) Most people don't even know that halo CE exists.
3) The thought of few players online drives even more people away due to the thought of not getting a match against someone.
4) In order to join a server that's using a custom map, you need to have downloaded the same map and have it in your halo Ce maps folder before you can play. This can be such a hassle because there are hundreds if not thousands of different maps out there.
5) Some people might think that the ability to create custom maps can give a server host an unfair advantage in a game, and i don't just mean the fact that the host knows everything about the map.

Well said. CE can quite easily baffle older PCs too as the resources to store a "comprehensive" map selection can grow astronimically in a short period of time. Example: Halo CE takes up more memory in my C drive than any two other PC games I own (and Everquest 1 is over a gig!).

Querry the gurus: is there a way to cut that down a little? Perhaps more people would be enticed to join CE if they needn't fear getting kicked for lack of the latest greatest map or that it will take several weeks days to DL said maps with their 56k connection (weeks they, notably, can't do anything else online...).

I consider the games mamoth size in direct link to its disfavor with most end users. If someone can find a way to satisfy the first, the later will remedy itself quickly.

You need CHIMP if you want to make maps with gmax.

I know why people at bungie get paid the big bucks because making professional quality maps is HARD. I can't even make a simple map.

CE as of right now is being taken over by a map called "Hugeass" Belive the title. Its a huge ass map. 36 people still isnt enough for a map this size and you see people hosting with 10 or less players...

PC maps run smoother and tend to creat less lag, plus there's more people on, but CE is new and adventurous with cooler vehicles and weapons.

Regular Halo there is usually 1500+ people playing. CE there is 200 or so on at any given time.

wut? for me I can only see at most 20 people playing at a time. On Halo PC at least 700 people play during USA hours. On the most busy times, there are 2300 people playing!

You see since 1.7 for ce the lag has gone up. I think it's a tie. To many people play all rocket games in pc, so i don't like that. CE has more lag, less people and the community there kinda sucks.
