Necessary to have in the Halo Movie: (In my opinion)
1. The voice actor in H1 and H2 do the voices.
2. The covenant at least be computer animated.
3. The guns be the same, or extremely extremely similar to the H1 or H2 weapons.
4. A good music score.
5. A good plot and alot of action. Not as much repetitiveness as in Halo 1.
6. Blood and gore. Depapitating limbs. War isnt pretty, especially with plasma grenades.

Not necessarily necessary but a good thing to have in the Halo Movie:
1. Marty O'Donnell do the music score.
2. A plot line independent from the games so if certain liberties are taken people won't be upset. It would be nice though to have the plot still be in line with the Halo timeline, events that really happened to the Chief and not just independent from the Halo story.
3. Have it be more computer animated than live action.

How bout that guy from aliens the big one that was like 7 ft feet tall wear the armour, then you have the voice actor from the games? What I think they should do is have full body props that you can fit people in then shoot with the props and perfect them with CGI.

I'd like to see as little CG as possible.
I'm sorry, but after viewing a lot of recent movies in comparison to the Lord of the Rings, it's very obvious what's CG and what isn't. Just because the covenant CAN be CG doesn't mean they SHOULD be.

Elements needed in the movie are the same voices, same characters (if identity needn't be reaveled, then so be it!) DO NOT make the Chief's face to be a superstar, it would be suicide! Just don't show it at all, this is a given. I mean, it just can't happen. Part of the grandeur of HALO is that everyone has their own chief in their mind and it propells the mystery ever-more. Also, how can you take away from what foundation has already been laid? That would be like blashphemy in the HALO world. DO NOT digress from the original plot the books/games have made, anything else WOULD BE FAKE! DO NOT tie in a cheesy love story..there is enough quality material to go off of.

I think a great way to start off would be to introduce us to the UNSC-Covenant War prior to landing on HALO. You see, without actually playing the video game and having a bunch of shooting to look forward to, the plot might not make sense the way the first game started off: exiting from a blind slipspace jump to the ringworld and then playing catchup from there. it might leave people in a blur.

Just my opinion, to those that have read the books...what if we started off on the first combat mission where the Chief and his best Spartans went to sieze Colonel Watts on the rebel asteriod. They have snuck aboard the cargo vessel that is enroute to the rebel base and laying in makeshift hammocks in water containers inside the ship's cargo hold. It is pitch black, they sleep in shifts on the way to the asteriod, John being the first to fall asleep. He is dreaming about when Dr. Halsey flipped the U.S. coin in the air as he yelled, "Eagle!" Then he has more flashbacks of his youth before he was abducted by ONI. Flashabcks of graveball at his education facility at Erdianus II and King of the Hill there as well. The brief flashbacks of Boot Camp at Reach, and off their "augmentations" and glimpses of training. Then he wakes up, shakes it off, and completes his mission aboard the asteriod and this is the intro to the whole story of how we are introduced to the Covenant. It is a perfect build-up of plot and action! Let me know what you all think. BTW, I can't wait to see the movie!

That is a great way to do it. If anyone ever checks out behind-the-scenes of making special effect-laden movies, you know that it is a combination of techniques, like CG and props and actors to make it all come together and look real. If you think about it, it wouldn't be that hard for this kind of movie with the characters involved. I think they need Lucas to do the space battle becasue if the new Star Wars movies have shown us anything, it's that they know how to show a big space battle with incredible clarity and detail!

I don't think they'll have any problem pulling off the movie technicalities, espcially with the heavy-hitters lined up like Fox & Universal, not to mention Microsoft.

I think Dr. Halsey should be played by the Sprint Lady. She was also on "The Day After Tomorrow" She played Dennis Quaid's wife in that movie. She has the dark hair and blue eyes like Halsey and shee looks to be around the same age, and she looks smart too. Am I good or what?

a movie? hmmmm... ok, im not going to get my hopes up but if i were to make the movie i'd do acoording to this list.
well first off...

1. Final Fantasy movie sucked cos the eyes looked cross eyed(go back and watch it), so no totally CG movie even though the Computer graphics were reasonable for the time period.

2. Anything that is human should be played by real humans, computer graphics cannot mimic human emotions that well. Only cortana should remain CG, theres no point in a real human playing her, but the woman who does her voice over in the game should do also for the movie.

3. Master chief should leave his helmet on, i dont want to see his mug, maybe a teaser here and there but thats it, besides i like mysteries, its what made Darth Vader so awesome. The only time i would acept seeing his face would be there were childhood flashbacks.

4.Anything alive and not human should be CG, grunts for example.

5.The only thing i liked about Starship troopers is the MASSIVE HOARD of insect wave coming at the soldiers, the Flood would look awesome done the same way and so would the Covenent.

6.The actor who plays Master Chief SHOULD not be a famous actor, theres no need if we wont see his face(besides its cheaper), so the guy who does his voice in the games should still do so in the movie. But if the Master Chief is 7ft something then a basketball player is a good choice. Also do not reveal who played Master Chief instead do what was done in the credits of the movie 'Cabin Fever' where you see someone in a Rabbit costume and in the ending credits that someone was not named instead ' We will never tell' was written.

7. Keep it true to games and books, its a logical formula for a successful movie, Peter Jackson proved this with LOTR.

8. The wars should be graphic, fast paced and SPECTACULAR, like in LOTR and StarWars, but should keep true to the realities of war, such as the brutality of death in war.(Saving Private Ryan, the opening part of the Normandy beach scene)

9. I agree that George Lucas could do the space battles as StarWars 3 floored my jaw when i saw a trailer for the first time.

10. If live actors are to be used then i think a competition would be good for getting loads and loads of Halo fans to be marines, im mean who wouldnt wanna be part of it and do it for free??? hell i would!!! and im sure a thousand others would line up for a part.

well thats all i can think of for now....im going to practice my battle cries!!

I know the people from Bungie will never see this, but I'll post it anyway.
Ahem.
I do not want to see this : Brad Pitt, Vin Diesel, Ben Affleck, or any guys like that as Master Chief. Please. THey would ruin the movie. Also, Base it on the fall of reach! That is IMPERITIVE!
Also, make it a Mild-to-medium R rating. PG-13 is hard to make when you're shooting aliens and burning people in half. Also : NO NAKED WOMEN. I know you stereotypical males are saying "what??" but seriously think about it. It's freakin Halo. When is there a naked woman in Halo??
Also...don't fill it to the brim with language. A little is ok, but Halo didnt have anything worse than the word "Bast'rd".

I think you got the right ideas man! That whole fans auditioning for extras is brilliant as well. What needs to be done is a trilogy based off of the books in order, one by one. This way it is kept in perfect tradition and newcomers won't be left in the dust, they can tag along too without any Halo "experience".

All I have to say is thank god for Bungie developing "The Exhaustive Companion", the book that lays out every facet ever conceived in the Halo universe. This will settle any arguments among the movie-makers.

LUCAS? You have got to be kidding me...

Lucas wouldn't know how to make a good film if someone handed him an Oscar and said, "Okay, now all you have to do is make the movie make sense."

I'm sorry, while the Star Wars films were all fun and stuff, the sad fact of it was that it was all a lot of eye-candy and entertainment value. Halo, to me, is worth more than that... and if Lucas were to touch it, he would most definitely screw it up somehow.

I don't think they'll have any problem pulling off the movie technicalities, espcially with the heavy-hitters lined up like Fox & Universal, not to mention Microsoft.

While I agree that two studios backing is a good thing, this might also be a bad thing. As for Microsoft being behind it... their track record of getting things out on time or relatively bug-free (let alone both) makes me apprehensive... sure, they got money... but that doesn't mean anything unless you hire the right people for the job.

I think Dr. Halsey should be played by the Sprint Lady. She was also on "The Day After Tomorrow" She played Dennis Quaid's wife in that movie. She has the dark hair and blue eyes like Halsey and shee looks to be around the same age, and she looks smart too.

Are you talking about Candice Bergen? She's a great actress, but I just don't get the right feeling when I think of her as Dr. Halsey. Of course, I could be totally wrong... but I'll again repeat my choices - Glenn Close (can play a hard as nails character, which, after Halsey killed off 2/3 of her Spartans during the "upgrade", requires a bit of stomach) or Sigourney Weaver (need I say more?).

Am I good or what?

No, not really...

Hear, hear...

Thank you for the comment about pretty boys or beefy guys playing the Chief... enough said.

As for the Fall of Reach... I think it's important to have some of that in there, but at the same time, the name of the movie *is* Halo, after all...

I agree with the no naked women argument as well. The only exception to this would most likely be Cortana, but then again, she's really all just code, so it doesn't matter... lol.

Finally, I agree on the language issue - but to clarify, Halo had "bastard" AND "ass" as well.

Wow. This is what I have been waiting for...An action packed Sci-fi kick ass movie. But man I keep wondering...What will it be like? Plot and all. Like will it just cover the campiagn or will you just make a whole new out of the ordinary story line? Will it be from the book? That's my best bet. It will problably come from the book. Oh well if I'm wrong. But GOD I hate waiting for this movie to come out. :( I WANT IT NOW! D:

Wow. the movie sounds like its gonna be great.

This may be old news (I dont have time to read 25 pages) but in the page of the "halo universe bible," the one about grunts. It has a fuel rod cannon labled as a flak cannon. The flak cannon is a weapon from unreal tournament. If this is a sample of the microsoft Halo Bible we may be in for an inaccurate movie.

No flame intended, but you have terrible taste. Glen Close doesn't even look like Halsey would. Matter 'o fact, she looks like a bull -blam!-.

Actually, I meant Sela Ward for Dr. Halsey; Sigourney Weaver would be a close second.
