I think they should use some actor, never show his face, and let the real MC's voice be used. Sorta like a voice over. I also think that all the actors they use should be nobodies because if they use famous ppl then one person may say that they should have used someone else while another thinks that that they should have used this other famous person. Just my opinion.

Being a huge Halo fan i'm jumping off the walls nowing that Halo will go Hollywood. Not trying to be a critic, but there is still many questions that need to be answered. First of all who is going to play Master Chief? Johnson? And how will the special effects going to be in the movie? If all these questions have been answered please tell me....i need an update!

I read the Halo Fall of Reach book and i think it would make a great movie. It would also provide the necessary background for those peopls who do not want to research the history and devlopment of the spartans. It is also very cinematic and tells of the deaths of the other spartans and shows the true extremety of the spartans superiority.

If it was up to me I would make the movie about the first book, The Fall of Reach. That was a great book by Eric Nylund. What made it so good was it explained how the Chief became the leader and how all the Spartans came to be. Whether or not it follows the first book or not won't bother me because there's gonna be lots of shooting, reloading and explosions and who doesn't love that!?!?

I hope Halo 3 won't have lame movie tie-ins like having to unlock FMV from the movie... or changing the Chief's voice in Halo 3 to match the lead actor's from the movie.

Well, they won't need to show MC's face so they could use the same voice Bungie used (great idea!).

One thing is for sure. No matter how well done the movie is, it won't be nearly as saught after as Halo 3. [<UNDERSTATEMENT>]

It would be great to base the movie on The Fall of Reach. Everyone already knows what happens in the game, but a lot fewer people have read the book>>like me. The game's story is made for a game. A movie would need more drama and character interraction--more communication. >> the book!

GREAT IDEAR!!

Master Chief: Some unnamed actor with a deep voice - like the one that does Master Chief in the game perhaps?
Cortana: Yes I think Hallie Berry will be an excellent choice..
Johnson: Gah! MUST BE AN UPTIGHT YET FUNNY DUDE WITH A STICK! And a rock... but yeah, not Samuel Jackson... maybe Will Smith?
Commander Keys: Er... dunno, I don't care...

Just read it on a german news site:
Uwe Boll (also known as the "Ed Wood" of video game movies) is going to direct the HALO Movie.
Seems to be difficult to find a good director for a video game movie.

I'm so excited for the movie. I just wanted to put in some input although it is probably to late to do so, but what the heck. I just wanted to say that it would be a realy good Idea to follow the books and not the games. My first reason being, eveyone knows the storyline behind the games and the game was practically a movie anyway. Second, I think Eric Nylude did a great job with his two Halo books. I havn't read the one by the other auther yet cause I think Nylude did such an awesome job and am afraid that by reading the other book, my taste for halo may be tarnished. Also, I really hope you guys aren't planning to cram all of every thing in one movie. I seriously think if you cram everything in one movie that it will be horrible. I think that you guys should do a triligy. It's just a common thing for great movies to come in triligies. The first movie could basically be based on Nylude's first book. The second would start like the very first cinematic for Halo 1 and the crash landing and whatnot. Basically it would be the Halo 1 game on film and the ending would be....... New plan. The first movie should be Nyludes first book and then up to the point right before John(The Chief) meets the flood.... No, that won't work. I'm into this now. You should start like Nylude's first book. I think I've established that much so far. I'll go into detail. First it starts at the "Keys and Halsey waking out of cryosleep" scene, and then Keys asks the questions and whatnot and then they finally get around to observing Subject 117(John). Then you save the part were she obducts them and replaces them with clones for flashback purposes in one of the later two movies. Then you show the "# YEARS LATER" and and a short clip of all the to be spartans in a class room setting, learning about whatever it is they learned. And then another "# YEARS LATER" or "# MONTHS LATER" and then a scene of their in the field training. And yet another "# YEARS LATER" and have a scene for thier first mission. Believe it or not another "# YEARS LATER" or whatever and this is the part were they get thier MJOLNIR armor and test it out and stuff. Oh yeah. You also have to find a spot where they get all their augmentations and a lot of them die or get disformed. I believe it goes inbetween the feild training part and the first mission part. Hopefully you can cram all that within the first half hour. Then find a way to add the shield technology to their MJOLNIR armor and then flash forward to the attack on Reach and show The Pillar of Autum Jumping to hyper space in their some where and... oh yeah. Through in a flash back on how John and his spartans had retrieved the crystal looking thing and how Cortona used the strange symbols to get her coordnates. And then, "Halo" and the whole story and how it was destroyed. The ending is a toss up between just sitting there by himself in the middle of space and have movie two start by the Covenant ship coming from behind the sun or planet or have him go to the point of returning to Reach...... No. To much happens between the destruction of Halo and the return to Reach. Just end it byhim sitting there in the middle of space. Wow, I'm bored and have no life. Well here in my opinion and what would be my idea for the first movie. I think it would be freakin' awesome. I would actually Like some comments. Either reply to this or preferably send me an e-mail to matilinie@hotmail.com. Thanks for your critisism and whatnot.

Oh yeah, It really needs to not be computer animated and unknown actors for every one. Some computer animated films are ok but not taken as seriously and therefor people don't feel the proper emotions at certain times and the movie will just suck.

Slight hitch in that there plan... I've read on this site, the very site here (hehe just to be clear) that the dude that wrote/directed (can't remember right now) the awesome flick '28 Days Later' is gonna direct and has written a draught for the halo movie... which would make the flood totally really scary!
I know I'm such a hipocrite for saying this coz at first I wanted the entire film to be CG, but now I think about it, if it's all CG, theres little to no sense of reality in it, rendering the flood practically not scary against a CG Master Chief, unless the makers of the movie can pull some scary -blam!- outta their sphincters. Lacking scariness I reckon action galore, and hopefully a romantic scene with Chief and Cortana? Ooh speculation!

It says on IMDb that Uwe Boll is directing!!! WTF is this sh1t?!!!

Just the mere suggestion of his name as a placeholder makes my blood boil. Do not let him crapify this movie please!

Anyways, I also think it should be obvious who should play the MC's voice:

James Earl Jones, of course! :D

Um, I read that somewhere too but the last time I checked the flood are on halo. I was saying that everything that happened between the obduction of the children to the fall of reach, should all be cramed in a very detailed half hour and then the rest of the movie will be the whole story of everything that happened on halo includeing the encounter with the flood and what not. There is no hitch. I've been thinking about this for a while. If I were the writer and it was three movies... well I'll just say I already have the whole thing planned out. Man I wish I was part of the making of this movie. I really want it to be good.

I think that we all want a stake in this movie effort and we all want it to seem awesome. Just by knowing what lengths Bungie and Microsoft have gone to preserve the authenticity of the Halo universe, I think it will turn out good even if every detail doesn't go as I'd liked.

There seems to be a bunch of people that don't want to have the movie reveal the Chief's face. Well, it also seems that these same people haven't read the novels because there are quite a few instances where the Chief is out of armor and without a helmet on. Will the movie-makers try to steer around these scenes? It is possible they could eliminate the unmasking of the Chief, but I think at least two of the scenes are pivotal in the story. One scene that I'd really like to see that includes the Chief out of uniform, is the standoff between him and Major Silva in Alpha Base at Halo. That was a great dialouge that really showed the social rift between elitist ODSTs and the rest of the UNSC as well as the pecking order the ODSTs setup for themselves, not to mention the their jealousy of the Spartans.

So, if they do show a face, who could it be? It is possible to capture the whole dialouge from behind the Chief's head, but that might be lame. I say that if they do show a face, then let it be someone NOT famous that looks tough, can act, and looks a lot like the novels describe John as. I think this guy could be a viable candidate:

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/1481/Events/1481/DominicP ur_Ausse_541635_400.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Purcell,%2 0Dominic

Let me know what you all think. At first, I was skeptical about "showing" a Chief, but now that I've read the novels twice, I think that face time is inevitable.

Also, what do you guys think about this idea: Having Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down) being cast as Major Silva commanding the squad of helljumpers that fight for Alpha Base on Halo? That and having Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) be Sgt. Lister as well?

BTW, Cortana is CGI in the game and to make her otherwise would be really fake and a mockery of Halo. Jen Taylor's voice is very distinct as well and they MUST keep her for the movie.

For Chief I say keep using Downes' voice. Downes IS Chief, that's how we relate to the Chief in the game and we have to keep Steve Downes' voice--no other option. If they do show an actor for the Chief, I hope it is Purcell with Steve Downes' voice dubbed over the lip movements, that would be cool.

whoever plays Johnston has to have that raspy voice. not many well-known actors have that voice(or would be able to pull it off)

Well, the prospect of seeing the Chief up on the big screen definitely is shock inducing. I can't even begin to think who they will choose to do the project. Maybe I don't want to think about it. Perhaps we should all just contain our strong desire to see the film, play some Halo and, when the trailers start showing, explode in a frenzy, rush to the theaters and camp until midnight of the first day. Hoorah! Being a nerd, or just being a fan in this day and age is freaking awesome.

I have to go soak my head now before I pass out.
