i DID take it thank you, I'm compelled to express myself and ask what spamming is considered to be...... Bungie doesn't even have their own definition in the Terms area...

Ok, I have to ask..... what exactly IS spamming supposed to be? After having been banned for 7 days because they said I spammed the boards and they believe me to have broken the "no politics" policy, all I could think was, WTF... but I can't argue with it, cause I have no control.

Isn't spamming posting the same message over and over or "advertising" something? Those who've read my posts would know I haven't done that, and that I haven't engaged in any political discussion, I don't even like politics.

I'm a moderator on 2 computer tech forums, but I couldn't understand it, do the mods on this site assume I'm spamming just because I'm an over-active member and I reply to a lot of the posts people post? I thought they were supposed to read a few of my posts or whatnot..

So i wanted to know in other people's opinion, what exactly IS spamming to you?

Also when you're blacklisted, bungie has a 4 rule thing,
1. don't argue over the mods they'll believe them everytime
2. something about no whining because if you did something bad you need to live with the consequences...

now the 3rd one was pretty much to my idea
3. if after reading the first 2 rules, you feel you've still been wronged, explain why you are right and the moderator is wrong

ok, yeah....... where exactly and I supposed to send this to? bnetbugs@microsoft.com?

that doesn't work, I sent like 3 messages.... why isn't there a link or something to send to, do I send it to the Webmaster? that doesn't make sense either....

So why does bungie tell you, that you have the option to defend yourself if you still feel you've been wronged (in my case i don't feel I spammed nor do I engage in political discussion, online OR off)

so if they give me that option, where's the link I send my arguement to?

I think bungie still needs a little tailoring to the website for a few things.....

I love how a moderator moved this thread but didn't answer your questions.

Moderator Note:

And I love how you assumed that it wouldn't be answered.

Patience young padawan, patience. Anger and assumption that evil drives the actions of others? Those thoughts lead to the dark side. Think them not.

Yeah me too..... I mean when i mod on one of the computer tech forums I try to be as precise and reasonable as I can, if i see someone has posted 30 times within 5 to 10 minutes... I'll check maybe 1/2 or 2/3s of the posts, not read just look at them to see if it's the same posting over and over.... no one answers my questions, they just say stop whining, blah blah blah, it wasn't whining, it was asking a question to find an appropriate answer, since bungie doesn't specify what spam is (and to the general world it's usually multiple messages regarding the same thing, or advertising)

oh well, I'm giving up cause i doubt anyone will answer this, even a mod....

and someone told me to PM the mod about the BL, I did, and I was courteous about it and asked WHY i was BL because it didn't specify the first time, that's how I found out I "spammed" and broke their "no politics" policy... whatever

I just know i'm going to limit my time on this site now....

Your "computer tech" forums don't receive 2 million posts every couple of months. Give it a rest, 10 moderators won't look into each situation like that.

Edit: Curses. Foiled again.

If you feel as though you've been wrongly blacklisted, attempt to contact the blacklisting moderator. If they do not reply, contact Achronos.

This is a very good question: What exactly is considered spam? I've seen many people label a thread as spam when it is no better nor worse than some of the other things I have seen. To me, spam is nonsensical drivel that adds nothing to the forum or thread. I know, the majority of The Flood would be considered spam using my definition, but it is slightly more lenient there because it is an off-topic forum. Other forms of spam include, but are not limited to: Creating a certain thread many times in one forum; creating a certain thread across multiple forums; bringing up a thread over 3 months old just to say "wow"; posting the same thing in every thread possible (as in going into every thread and just saying OMG).

Anyway, lighten up. If you broke a rule and were banned for it, I believe you are guilty unless you can provide evidence otherwise. You must also remember that the moderators here are human and are prone to make mistakes on occasion (although rare, it does happen... *cough*Maka deleting the original mugshots thread*cough*).

Edit: Damnit. Recon went and posted pretty much the same thing I said but his is in that cool white and totally overshadows my post... jerk... :-)

Alright. So, after some searching, I finally found the general forum page. After some even more difficult navigation, I finally found some individual forums. The first forum I looked in had 3 replies posted today. The next had only one from today. The third, yes, only one. At the rate of one or two posts per day, even if you had 100 different forums, that still wouldn't add up to two million for a very long time. Quite a lot of pages, but absolutely nowhere near Bungie's activity. Small forums are a lot easier to manage. Moderators can take the time to explain things, because they barely ever have to do it. Most members will receive replies to anything quite quickly.

Bungie.net is rather large. With only 10 moderators, they do a damn fine job. Recon is different. Somehow, he finds the time to reply to almost anything with quite a lengthy and witty post (note the "foiled again" part).

And, uh, I wouldn't tell Bungie they need a little tailoring... your "tech forums" are a nightmare to navigate for anyone new there.

Third, you just broke a rule. Triple posting, I'd say, would probably be spam. Edit buttons are your friend.

Hey I don't run them I just moderate for rules.... I didn't design it, so don't blame me, yes I agree it's not exactly user friendly, but it's more for advanced computer people who already know what they're looking for and need a little help along the way...

after all if I told someone who didn't understand computers that each octet is 8 bits and there are 4 octets which total to 32 bits so your ip address is 32 bits, blah blah blah, would that make sense?

And I didn't know bungie.net only had 10 moderators..... now I know.... And recon has been the only moderator to actually have helped me with questions...

(P.S. Triple post? I didn't see anything about that from Recon :-p)

EDITED: (btw thanks for the note about the edit button... i'll be sure to remember it)
