I fully agree with Halifax. The Underground will no longer be a place for old school games if Sketch allows Movie topics to be made there......I do NOT think Halo Movie topics should be welcomed in The Underground.

You also missed my point. My point was that if Halo Movie discussions are allowed in The Underground, then there wont be any Oldschool topics. Was the top part the only thing you read?

I suppose we have to wonder whether old-school discussion has plateud... If that's the case then it might not really matter if there is a separate forum it or not. I suppose on some level empty forums find ways of filling themselves, much in the same way nature abhors a vacuum, but do we want to CREATE discussion where none was before or FACILITATE existing discussion that's having a hard time finding a suitable outlet?

In some ways it all boils down to how you see the main Bungie.net forums' role; personally I think of them in two ways. The first is obvious in providing a place for discussion of all things Bungie. The second is in my opinion slightly more conspiratorial, in that most of them function as a multitude of training grounds for the more popular and better maintained chapters. They're a catch-all to facilitate the 'en-veteran-ating' of new members and to limit the damage caused to the REAL b.net chapter communities by disruptive members who might not [thankfully] actually know about the chapter scene.

But maybe that's just me being cynical...

Please don't spam. It's against the rules and totally unnecessary.

On a separate note, it'd be nice if there was a Halo Movie Forum, because if the movie gets as big as Halo and Halo 2 did, you can expect The Underground to be nothing but a flood of Halo Movie topics after it comes out. I say that it'd be a nice forum to have, but that it should be held off until the movie is about to be released so that people would actually have something official to discuss instead of plain old rumors. Also, they'd have a place to discuss it without throwing The Underground completely off-balance with thousands of Halo Movie Topics... but that's just my opinion.

I found this in the topic titiled "About The Underground". This User makes a great point and has a good idea.

Now, I fully understand how both Halo movie and Halo 3 topics technically fall under the classification of the Underground because they do not deal with a specific version of Halo. However, seeing as 5 of the 8 main forums are dedicated to various aspects of the Halo Universe, does it make a whole lot of sense to allow The Underground to be flooded with Halo topics?

Would it be possible to slightly modify one or more of the Halo forums in an attempt to keep the Underground from becoming another Halo forum and help prevent topics that belong in the Underground from being burried by Halo 3 and Halo movie topics?

Consider the Library as an example. Now that it is nearly four years after the release of Halo, all of the basic questions have been answered and activity in the Library has dropped off. Since xbox Halo specific questions are now few and far between, would it not be a good idea to change the Library so that it is a "General Halo Universe" forum, rather than just a forum for xbox Halo? This could inspire activity in the Library, help alleviate some of the problems with the Underground and eliminate all future questions of whether a Halo topic should be posted in one of the various specific forums or is general enough to belong in the Underground.

That is a good idea/point. They wouldn't have to create a new forum, or even change the name of the forum. All they would have to do is change the description of the forum, warn the people and then let the Moderators do the rest.

The library is dead. Yes. Give it life.
