...essentially, I have no clue how to use it, why it's occasionally enabled, and if there's a way to turn it on or off. It looks helpful..

It works just like it's name suggests it would.

It tracks the motion of Enemies and Allies.

Red = Enemy

Green = Ally

When they move within the range of the sensor there is a little coloured dot on it and it always faces the same way as you do.

For example, if the dot is at the top of the circle, the NPC is infront of you.

Also, you cannot turn it on or off in single play. It is always on. (expect for the start of "The Pillar of Autumn" mission.

It shows motion. Simple as that. Red is an enemy. Yellow is an ally. You are in the middle of the circle. So if a red dot is behind you, then there's an enemy behind you. If there's a yellow dot to the left of you, then to your left, there's a marine or sentinel. Big dots mean vehicles or hunters.

It doesn't usually work :/

Like just now, I was totally surrounded with Flood, no crates, and the motion tracker had nothing on it. Combat forms, ballsack-heads, AND infection forms.

Were they moving? It only picks 'em up if they move.

and they have to be within a certain distance of course. I think its 25 meters.

They were definitely moving...and some of the infection forms were literally inches from my feet. I'll upload a quick youtube vid as proof...just gonna pick a random campaign level here...just to show that it doesn't ever seem to wanna work.

All my opinion.

Most likely something to do with your computer. MIne occasionally gets really fuzzy however switching weapons fixes that.

My computer is definitely powerful enough...over 3ghZ and 4gb RAM. I forgot the exact name but I have a decent gfx card as well.

And switching weapons doesn't work :(

Your motion tracker is messed up. Maybe it's a corrupted file?

This is not the Halo PC forum -_-

Also, it is a problem on YOUR end so you have to find out how to fix it.

E4web

Type 'hud_enable_motion_sensor 0' into the console if you want to turn it off. I'm not quite sure what's causing it to fail, but try 'hud_blink_motion_sensor 1' to see if it works at all.

If it still doesn't work, try fiddling with the graphics settings such as decals and particle settings until you find something that might work. If all else fails, reinstall.
