So I got exp banned, no big, mainly because I only earned like 3 exp before I got banned, so i obviously was trying to get my exp up, not.

I had 2 controllers, both moving, both playing, no idea how that equals a ban, but I'm not going to argue this ban, because I can't. I got bannedd because I was going for achievements with friends, infact one of my friends got matchmaking banned for not moving at all, that does not seem fair at all.

However, from reading, I got banned for exp boosting when I was only achievement boosting, and from my readings I found achievement boosting is allowed. I believe that is correct. Some may hate it, some might not care.

Regardless to all that above, I do have a few questions. If I were to get banned again what will happen? Another 2 week no exp?

Will this ban carry over into future Halo games?

Does this ban effect my console or my account?

Thanks in advance for the answers, I will read them and comment on them for any further queestions.

Boosting in any form is bannable.

Thanks Grim. Shame this ban goes against my account. I wouldn't actually mind if it was against my console.

Satan, after doing research on bannings from Halo, achievement boosting is allowed, it is just sometimes detected as EXP boosting, therefore getting you banned.

Why does Bungie ban for EXP boosting? Who really cares? They may have gotten their exp boosing, but still they have to play the game and be active in the game in order to get the exp, therefore it really shouldn't matter if one gets exp. I mean if I got 5000 exp legit and played against someone who boosted to 6000 exp, then I would dominate them, and when I do, then I will know they boosted and I wouldn't care much more than that.

Boosting should be allowed by Bungie because they are still playing their game. So why does Bungie not allow exp boosting?

It breaks the game mechanics. If everyone boosted for their general or whatever. There would be no point in legitimately playing the game. Look at Mw2 for example people still play it, but because of boosters and hackers the game is broken, the whole ranking system should just be scrapped since everyone is boosting their way to the highest rank. See what I'm getting at here?

I can only agree with the statement above. Why don't they allow exp boosting? And the next thing you know somebody asks you why can't I just hack this dude account, 'cause he is really going on my nerves (that was over dramatic). But seriously, there must be rules, or else we would just end up like MW2, yeah suck it Infinity Ward, Bungie rulez.

Been out of town so that's why my reply is so late.

I did not say I was exp boosting, so that's why I asked my question. If you ask me, you're the true retard. You stuggle to read and grasp the concept of the article that you read. I did not say I boost for exp. Why am I repeating this? Because you didn't grasp it the first time.

There is no loop holing anything when your not going for that thing. I was going for achievements. Achievements have nothing to do with exp. I don't play this game for the General, I play this game for the achievements and the story line.

What I was trying to say, and I wish I didn't have to retype this again because it is in clear view above.

Boosting exp should be allowed/not a bannable offence unless caught by a real person because who cares if someone boost to their General. The only person who is happy about that General is themselves, and they know it's a fake. The other Generals shouldn't care because it's just easy killing, and the lower levels should love it because they get the satisfaction that they killed/beat a General in a game.

Honestly, learn to read or learn to shut your mouth next time you speak because you understood about 0% of what I was saying.

I do agree with that. It does ruin games, however Bungie shouldn't have a computer finding exp boosting device because computers are not always right. The only correct way to ban someone should be through a live human. The computer should detect the boosters, but the ban should only come through a human who learns about the boosting through the computer.

Again, I agree. What you said makes sense. But, I still don't think the bans should come through a computer. Yes it costs more money to hire people, but still it makes the game less annoying for people like me, and there are a lot of people like me who like to obtain achievements.

Edit: I edited this after every quote. If you read them all, my answer vary for each person, so I shall shorten my official responses here. Exp banning is to strict. Yes it would be awful if everyone was a General, but the banning is to crazy. The bans should come through a human instead of a bot to increade the accuracy of legitimate exp boosters.

*I am typing this at a late time, so if something doesn't make sense, then please say so and I can try to reexplain it later.

I think Achievement boosting is fine personally. Boosting doesn't make the player any better, but with terrible lag and the hosting system, it can be close to impossible to achieve anything unless your really good at Halo or live by it playing all day every day......). I got the EXP ban too, just because I want to get the achievements so I never have to play Halo 3 again. Bungie need to calm down a bit with the banning. EXP booasting, yes if your caught, you get a ban, fair enough, but I wasn't and as you already said, Computers can be wrong (and are alot of the time actually!).

why do people keep saying that exp boosting will get u a general??? You have to be a 50 and get 600 exp to be a general so there for exp boosting is not bad.

If they don't want people to boost exp make it like rank and only half the matched players can be from ur friends list. I mean, they say u can go into social slayer with 10 people but then if u do that for 5 games u get banned.

WTF? They said it was ok by allowing 10 people but yet u get banned.

  • 08.08.2010 3:17 PM PDT

thats such crap man we're still playing the game sure we're doing sumthin over and over agian but so are u when u play match making so let me see this through bungie eyes???

100 games of gruntpocalypses= banned
100 games of matchmaking= not banned
dats bullcrap bungie and u know it...

  • 10.01.2010 8:43 PM PDT

im not tryna to be mean or rude but some people aka me and this guy ur offending might like to get to sumthin fast just cuz they want to we both paid for the game so we're gonna play it the way we want also i've been farming credits in grunt cuz i want to rank up fast so i can get the eva helmet and the general rank so what i dont care cuz im not u ...

  • 10.01.2010 8:46 PM PDT

Don't believe me?

its easy to look at it that way reaper. However: Yes we paid for the game but we didn't make it so we don't automatically have some larger stake or claim than Bungie to do whatever we want. It might be semantics but you would put the same rules in your game if you found out you would lose consumers and profit because of said glitching etc.

Are there plenty of other games out there you can play and have some freedom to boost/glitch? Sure. Halo 3 just happens to not be one of them.

my bad i dont mean it like that but they shouldnt ban u for a glitch when a glitch is a problem in the game bro i was lt colonel grade 3 by doing gruntpacolypse like crazy it was exhausting then i find out bout the challenge glitch did twice and stop cuz my friend told me bungie will ban then out of nowhere they ban me for twice so i lost my rank/credits/armor everything...

Boosting achievements does not get you banned. However the banhammer cannot tell the difference and thinks that you're trying to exp boost and bans you.

I Retired Gears of War 2, Sold it to buy Halo 3. And I have not had this much fun playing Video Games in a long time :)
Now that Halo Reach is out. My life has never been better.
Thanks Bungie.

It might affect the Halo 3 ban, but it wont carry to other halo games.
