Something smells fishy...
These games were by far the best in the trilogy.
Are you referring to Halo Combat Evolved? If you are then I agree to an extent.
Halo Combat Evolved had an excellent campaign. But I think its multiplayer experience was its defining component. Halo Combat Evolved had the best multiplayer experience in the trilogy. It was timeless.
Halo 2 for the XBOX was almost just as good as the first. The campaign actually became more difficult with the introduction of Brutes. I think the AI was a bit more intelligent too.
Unfortunetly the Assault Rifle was omitted from Halo 2. The Battle Rifle just wasn't as exciting. Although, the introduction of new weapons pleased me a little. So when I heard Bungie had reintroduced the Assault Rifle in Halo 3 I was elated.
Sadly the campaign was short and dissatisfying in Halo 3.
Halo 3 just didn't live up to Halo standards. It had a weak campaign.
The Halo 3 multiplayer experience was relatively similar to that of Halo 2. But I didn't like that the Gravity Hammer and the Spartan Laser were available in Halo 3 multiplayer. In my opinion the two weapons were much too powerful.
I enjoyed both Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2. They both had satisfyingly gritty well developed campaigns. So for me it is a tie between Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2 for being the best in the trilogy.
