I haven't made anything 3d in a while, but since there is nothing else to do but wait for Halo reach, i decided to do some more sketchupin' and here is my most recent.

Its a human cruiser, a bit smaller than the famous UNSC Frigate, with a similar layout (Bridge tower, engine tail and front bow main component). It is a civilian transporter, i haven't figured out a name for it yet but i'll probably just yoink something from halopedia. So far I made the Bridge and Engine/thruster block.

Bridge tower 70%

Engine/Thruster Block 50%

Bridge(70% complete): The bridge is the main command console for the ship; the captains' canvas. On this ship, its small in comparison to other UNSC ships because the ship itself would have many more crew control points around the ship. It is positioned on the highest point of the ship for maximum situational visibility. The panoramic space-glass is coated with special materials to maintain its form while traveling at high speeds and slipspace. There are many censors and radars to input data from the course and surrounding along with other instruments positioned in various locations on the hull of the ship. Unlike the frigate the majority of the exterior is unarmored, it is only protected by a angled hull made of ultra strong composites.

Engines (50% complete): so far the engines have a lot of room for modifications. There are four thrusters powered by a fusion core. They are designed to maintain normal cruising speeds and have are capable of setting up an escape mode where the output is transferred through 2 engines simultaneously while the other two push the ship forward. The modular flaps extends so the ship can only go straight but with up to 5x more thrust and 3x faster velocity in most atmospheres and in zero gravity.

The model was made in sketchup (so far) and rendered quickly in V-ray please comment :D

shoutout to my friend Liam Keating who i gained much inspiration from. cheers

How'd you find me?

These are pretty good WIPs. I do not know how to make anything in sketchup, a tutorial from anywhere to make something awesome from halo like a frigate would be my salvation XD I quite like this, these WIPs definitely have potential. Your explanation of the bridge was spot on, good description. I look forward to the finished project.(I will also comment on Deviant Art, I'm kingwrench there too)

Holy balls that's detailed! Hopefully I'll be able to do that when I go into my 3D animation class.
