Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

those were the days...

Tru7h.

Having said that, Halo is the only game that I have ever played that never trully gets old. I still get that feeling that was present the first time I played every single time.

Long live Halo.

He who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man.

I remember the feeling that i got the first time i heard that eerily soothing music at the menu screen. As I played through the game, I realized how in-depth it really was. After I beat it for the first time all I wanted to do was do it again. From that moment on I was a changed gamer. Any "shooter" that i bought after that was compared to halo and put back on the shelf. Nothing can compare to uberness of Halo 1. Halo 1 is definitley better than its succesor, Halo 2. I still get chills when I put the disc in and hear that familiar chant at the menu.

Well because Im not what one would call hip, I bought the game in 2004. Yeah I had an xbox in earlier but I denounced the game as trash and pure hype. Well I finally bought in and got stuck on the first level in the maintence shafts and was cursing and got so mad I turned ther game off and went back to being ignorant. The next day I got through the maintence shafts and had the best time playing video games ever. Yeah I got stuck in the shafts, but it all turned out ok! Halo=Greatest Next-Genish of all Time. Long Live Halo!

I remember when i first played it at my cusins place, i played the second level while trying to save the marines on the top of the building, it was great fun. Then i went on the warthog, and continiued dying cause i was used to the 64's controllers, not x-box, so i was lafing my ass off everytime. After a long while i realized that it was 3 am, but i coudnt put down the controler, so i played untl 4:30, where i wasnt even in control of my thoughts, i just played the game as if it was part of me, (prob though it was lack of sleep) and i beet the level. Best game ever played in my life.

I didn't get Halo until probably 4 months after it came out. I was floored. I played till I couldn't stay awake anymore, took a nap, then beat it. I was so impressed I called my friends and had them come over and play. They were hooked too. They both ran out and got an XBox just for Halo.

I also got them hooked playing it online with gamespy at first, then xbconnect. My best friend really didn't want to play online at first as he never played games online before. But, he got hooked like all the rest of us.

i got hooked on the game when i played it at my friends house. he had rented it, so it had to go back to the store. we were both pretty bummed, cause neither of us had the cash to buy it with. and i didnt get my xbox until the Halo edition came out. (which is what i have, btw) but i remember going over to his house after we got hooked, and playing multiplayer for hours, demolishing several bags of chips and 3 or 4 jars of salsa, and then leaving and saying, damn, that was a good game. i miss those days. =(

Oh yes, brings back such good memories.....but then Halo 2 attacked....ruining the Halo name forever! Halo 1 made the Xbox succesful in it's early years.....if it weren't for halo, I would'nt have gotten the xbox.

First time i Played Halo?

I Hated it.

But that was just cuz i played with freinds who had it for a while in Multiplayer and got owned. Of course I'd hate it.

But then we played Coop on Assault on the Control Room - I HAD to get an Xbox. I made it my #1 Priority. Then my step brother and I played Coop the whole game, then we each beat it on each difficulty, Then i found out someone in my neighborhood had a Weekly LAN on Tuesdays. Oh man, the next 2 years were a Blast!

That was the same way for me. We started out in Multi-player and I hated it. Mostly because I sucked. But then when we did Co-op I loved it. Also my friend was telling me all about grunts and all that other crap and it was so great to put alian faces with the ones that I had in my mind.
