Why doesn't Microsoft or Bungie make Halo PC free? They could close the server list for Halo Trial and just make Halo PC Free. I mean it would boos the population by atleast a thousand and more people would get back into it?

I'm not sure why anyone still plays Trial, it's just full of people that team swap and there are douche nozzels that go in there and crash servers, plus, it's terribly laggy.

Yes, Halo PC Full Version has over 1000 Servers and not enough people to fill them. With Trial their is no Dedicated Servers so it is always laggy. Making Halo PC free would help boost the population by alot.

Simple, Microsoft and (most likely) Bungie want money. I don't think they will ever follow that idea. Besides what would they do with all of those copies still in stores? :P

I don't know get rid of them? The game will just die and become pointless sooner or later.

Well, Microsoft is a very dumb company, and they only care about money.
They do not care about us gamers.

As long as Halo is their IP, they will never make any game for free, no matter how old it is.

the custom edition is pretty much free, you just need a cd key and they're not that hard to find.
the game only costs about 5 bucks anyway

The source code would be nice, so that the community can rebuild the game from the ground up (specifically networking), although Microsoft wouldn't allow it as they'd be concerned about people creating rival IPs using the Halo Engine.

That is all Microshaft is concerned about.
omg, did somebody make Sonic the Hedgehog using H1 Blam! engine ? =O
what? it's not like Sega will sue anyone.

not only is MicroShaft using the suing issue as an excuse, but think, a source code release will also put their company to shame, as their updates were pretty much limited and sucked. (specifically networking)

Imagine what happens when they make online co-op. xD

This is the average H2 Fanboy.
Xfire: JacobGRocks.
50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

I haven't heard about people creating "rival ips" with the halo engine.
MS Did release the mechcommander 2 source. They could also release the halo 1 source.

I have not seen it anywhere for 5 dollars. Also, I cannot find a new Cd Key and I have looked at countless places, So if you can inform me of these 2 things it would be grateful.

There not going to make it free because even 7 years after it came out they are still able to sell it for $20. I always smile when I see 4-5 copies on the shelf at Walmart. Its one of the greatest games ever made so just go out to Walmart and spend the $19.77, it the best $20 I ever spent.

Pretty much this. In five years from now on might happen a free launch, kind of like Quake Live is supposed to be a a free new version of Quake 3.
