Halo 2 for Life!

I will be happy when Halo 2 comes back on XBL and I leave these forums once again.

speak to the points and dont be rude is how I like to post in forums. Words are only as good as those that use them and if they are used to refer to or talk to others than that is seen as rude to me.

One doesn't need to follow this but dont expect anyone to read or care for what those words are saying, as they only make sense to fools willing to try and piece together the lonlyness one expresses with those words directed at others.

You know, instead of bumping the thread, you could've just edited your most recent post. It's a hot topic anyway.

On-Topic:

Today I started trying Halo 2 SLASO. Now that I have some weeks of free time, I'm dedicated to become the first one to ever beat it (documented) without going off-level.

Good luck legendary is a pain in the butt! I am currently stuck at the end of the arbiter. You should make a topic out of it and keep us posted on your attempt. I am doing that with my legendary run!

With skulls legendary is probably impossible lol. Without skulls it's possible but one must be patient (other halo's you can be less patient as they are less difficult).

If Tyrant couldn't do SLASO, then nobody can. And we need an official name for the Armory skull.

I'm not quite sure that he even tried Halo 2 SLASO. Anyway there are a lot more talented campaign players than him.

Yeah, that can be tough. You might want to revert to the last checkpoint where you meet the Hunters and let them fight ahead of you. Keep reverting until they do really well because they can kill a lot of those Brutes on the other side.

When the Hunters finally do well, make sure you have a Beam Rifle and a full Brute Shot. Use the cloak and shoot method with the Beam Rifle, cloak and then step out and nail one opponent at a time. Never get greedy in that area.

Anytime, my friend and you didn't need to delete your links in the thread, my links are old and I was thinking about putting in better clips. Did you film them or did someone else.

Thats crazy no one has beat H2 mythic yet. I have all of the Halo games except for H2.(Sold it with my original xbox cuz i read it was tearing up the system) I have done all the games Mythic, but not this one. Its been awhile since I played it. Yea that last battle would be a -blam!- to beat like that.

Wow, you beat H3 and Reach on Mythic? Sounds like you would do much better at H2 SLASO (Mythic) than I. If you start playing it Mythic, keep us informed.

2. Sputnik; less gravity may sound innocent but nades will come at you from all directions because of Catch and there will be no cover because all boxes are blown away. Imagine the Cairo hanger.
Sputnik also makes beam rifle shots have force. Load Metropolis on Legendary and do the Warthog through the tunnel routine. It's nearly impossible to keep the Warthog steady.

Posted by: Grumpy1
9. Ghost; if you do manage to get up to an Elite for a melee, when you whack 'em they will not get spun around, they will keep facing you and they all have swords.
What do you mean by all have swords? You mean they will take out swords when you get real close to them?

Yes, because of Thunderstorm, as soon as you get near them they will whip out the sword. Makes it hard to melee them for health when they are always facing you with a sword at the ready. Don't forget the Armory skull, they will always be looking in your direction, even if you hide and come out somewhere else.

This is not always the case though.

But what about Grunts? Does it have to be Elites?

Here's my reply concerning the Mythic skull:

Posted by: Grumpy1
5. Mythic; even Grunts are tough to kill. The n00b combo is virtually useless in the Cairo hanger, not enough ammo can be hauled in and there's less ammo available.
That's not a problem if Grunt Birthday Party skull is turned on and if there's a alternative way to lower their shields, as one overcharged shot at a charging Elite will usually instantly kill them (since their head is so low).

Lol, you're not going to headshoot every enemy. Mythic is on so you're not going to be able to take many hits and kill them at the same time and with Angry on they are all firing faster at you and with Famine on you have less ammo and on top of that you must go melee them for health. Plus they are all invisible thanks to Assassins skull and Catch is on so the Grunts and Brutes sling plasma nades at you like machine guns and Blind is on so you don't know where enemy's are, you don't know how many or which grenade you've got nor do you know how much ammo is left from an already depleted weapon. To me, it was brutal.

SLASO is not about a few small parts not being a problem, it's about beating the whole game straight through, that's the problem

I didn't mean that.

Also, the Armory skull only works if they saw you. If they haven't seen you, then they won't always be facing you. And although the Elites won't turn around when meleed, they will when you melee them while they are in their melee animation.

Posted by: Grumpy1SLASO is not about a few small parts not being a problem, it's about beating the whole game straight through, that's the problemWell I think it's doable on Metropolis if Blind hasn't been retrieved.

You can easily take care of the Ghosts with the Scorpion (Sputnik will make it so that you can send them flying off the bridge), and also the Wraith (by shooting at it from far away), but as soon as the Banshees and Phantoms come in, you're dead.

Sure, you could try the Warthog and go all the way to the tunnel, but it is impossible to get through the tunnel with the Warthog.

But if you hide like this, you can hijack one of those Banshees. Maybe you could do it with the other one, although that might not be possible. Obviously, you want to keep the Scorpion intact so you can easily eliminate the Ghosts and use the tank later.

I brought marines with me so they could cause the Banshees to swoop in close but that might not be necessary and will probably result in the Scorpion being destroyed.

Then you go towards the tunnel in the Banshee, preventing the Ghosts, Wraiths, and Banshees from appearing. Then go into the tunnel, headshot the Grunts, leave the Elite alone; he will be distracted when he gets near the Warthog, so he can be assassinated. Headshot the three Jackals. If you want to save BR ammo, just use plasma pistol bolts. Then get both the Ghost (make sure that one is intact) and Scorpion and bring them into the tunnel.

There are two Elites and several Grunts at the next part. The Grunts can easily be killed with the Ghost's bolts if it hits them in the head, but the two Elites are challenging, because they seek cover.

After somehow taking down the Elites, you can bring the Scorpion past the barrier and take out the Jackal Sniper.

Now this is where it got tough for me.

First, you have to go forward to trigger the nearby Jackal sniper, stealth Elites, ultra Elites, Grunts, and Jackals. They aren't already there. Going forward on foot might be the best option.

Second, the Ultra Elites, Grunts, and Jackals seem to endlessly spawn after the previous Covie group is killed. After eliminating all but one Elite, I think you have to go up to him and assassinate to stop more from spawning. Then comes the Zealot, who you can easily defeat with the tank. As for the Stealth Elites, I think a plasma grenade stick should be sufficient.

This part is probably going to be the most time consuming part, as there doesn't seem to be a way to bypass the Covies stationed here.

For the next area, you can kill the Jackal Snipers with the Ghost's bolts (by aiming at their head), but according to Halopedia, the Jackal Snipers infinitely spawn (on Vista, up to 10 will spawn).

Because of Sputnik, your Ghost will easily flip from enemy plasma bolts, so it might be best to go around rather than a direct approach.

And for this area, if you can hijack the Wraith in the previous area, then this part should be easy.

I got intercepted by the Ghosts before I could seek cover but you could probably position the Wraith so that you can hide behind it. Jackal snipers are easily killed with a frag grenade explosion.

If you can't get the Wraith from the previous area, it might be difficult to get past this, since even if you do hijack one of the Wraiths, it takes time for it's movement and boost to start up and you got another Wraith shooting at you and the Wraith mortar's range of damage is quite big. It might be a better idea to shoot at the Wraiths from far away with the Gauss Warthog. It takes about 9 rockets from the Rocket Launcher to destroy one on Mythic.

But you only need to eliminate one Wraith in this area for the Pelicans to arrive, after which you can get far away from the battle until the waypoint shows up and the doors open, and the Wraiths and Ghosts will disappear (if you're not facing their direction).

Finally, for the Scarab boarding part, try this out, but bring a plasma pistol. Two overcharges will take down their shields after which you can take them out with shots to their head. Sneaking down the ramp that leads to the control room without being seen might be difficult though.

Also, I haven't tested this out, but I think it's possible to kill a Ultra Elite with only two overcharges. After all, the second one will lower his shield and because of Grunt Birthday Party and the placement of their heads, this will easily kill them.

Pretty good planning but you have not been playing SLASO and that is what this is all about. You have to be a good player to describe the details you have described but you said maybe turn Blind off....that is not SLASO so I don't know what to say.

Also, when playing SLASO your Marines are useless because they cannot see the enemy. They get annihilated right away without firing a shot sometimes.

Did you mean Scorpion instead of Warthog? Hogs can easily drive right through the tunnel so I assume you meant Scorpion or Wraith.

That was an awesome hijack on that Banshee.

Very nice vids, I subscribed and I'll look over the rest of your stuff later (I'm watching the Masters).

I might go ahead and fire up the box and film a little bit of SLASO. I like your tuts but I hope the next time you film it, it is with SLASO setup. A strategy for each level would be awesome but to me the tuts need to be done absolutely SLASO.

Heh, you sound like a player that could give SLASO a go but it's been years since I played SLASO. I've never had enemy's respawn in the tunnel, never, so I want to see for myself if I can get that far. As far as I know there are no endless enemy's anywhere on Metro but I've been wrong before.

Edit: You are playing Vista, maybe that's why you have endless spawn?

Also, I've been thinking that you are certainly capable of doing Metro SLASO. I looked around YT and could not find a vid on any segmented SLASO runs, let alone the whole game.

You should make a vid of your SLASO run, there's a site that verifies runs like that and it would be cool to get it verified.

Also also, you can get your overshield back up by going back and busting up the small cars and trucks on the bridge. That should help your run. Ghosts are a good source of health too.

Alternatively you could skip that battle by jumping over the gap and using cloak. It may take a few goes though.

Here is a more better video. As you can see starting from here, the tunnel part is a killer.

Fortunately, I did learn several things from these tests (after reverting multiple times because of failed Banshee hijacks and dying 4-5 times in the tunnel area).

First, it seems the easiest way to take care of the other Banshee is to destroy it with the hijacked Banshee. Also, the way to make the Phantom leave is to shoot it's turrets off.

Second, the two Stealth Elites in the tunnels are harmless unless provoked. I wouldn't approach them if I were you.

Third, I was right, the Elite of the group has to be assassinated to end the endless spawn.

Fourth, never get near Jackals that have shields. They have much more health than Snipers. I foolishly charged a Jackal Major instead of sticking him with a plasma grenade and ended the video... and my life. :(

Yeah, I meant the Scorpion.

Thanks again!

I'm considering turning on Blind, but at the moment, I'm busy enjoying the Great Journey modded. :P

Yeah, Vista might be the reason why.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it out and it works, but there's still damage from the wreckage explosions.

Yeah, I know so. I've seen a lot of trickers come and go and you have that kind of mind/approach; analyze, make a plan and then execute said plan.

Blind is not that bad. I've mostly played with Blind on because of filming purposes. After a while you memorize each weapon and, to practice, I marked my screen (erasable ink) for each weapon. I also played in easy when I first started playing to get the feel for Blind. Like I said, after a while it becomes natural and you won't even need markers on your screen.

Ok.

The problem I have with Blind is not the loss of aiming, but the loss of my hud.
