The problem I have with Blind is not the loss of aiming, but the loss of my hud.
Heh, don't I know it. If you play Blind for a while your memory will improve, if nothing else. The nades and which weapon you have has to be constantly refreshed in your mind and you have to listen for the sound of when you can cloak. There's nothing to do about the motion tracker though but I think overall your senses are heightened and you become a better natural player.

I'll try it today then.

The problem is, I play with the volume at zero. The noise disrupts my concentration so I play Halo with no sound.

I seldom use the tracker. Well actually, it depends on the level. Take Halo 3's The Covenant for example. I've played it so many times I know it inside and out (except out of the level, I rarely attempt that). The motion tracker's helpful, but since I know how long it takes for the red dot to appear, this wouldn't be very difficult on Mythic.

Btw, how was your SLASO attempts? How far did you get? What parts did you have trouble with? Did you utilize any shortcuts (i.e. Warthog rush) or tricks?

Lol, I got sidetracked on OS messing with Johnson and the pilot of the Pelican. I'm trying to find a reliable way to squeeze him out, I think he's invincible like Sarge.

Edit: For SLASO I try to play straight up, I might hop up on a roof for better angle but I don't bypass areas.

OS? You mean Outskirts? I was asking about Metropolis.

Btw, the pilot that brings the scorpion tank later in Metropolis is not invincible. I made him get out of the seat by modding and he got killed when the Pelican flipped. So it's possible that the pilots on Outskirts and at the beginning of Metropolis are not invincible.

The reason I was on OS was because I was getting all the skulls and then I remembered getting the pilot out a few years ago. He's a lot different than the other Marines.

He's either invincible or the enemy AI do not see him because he lived through the IWHBYD skull fight until I died. Unfortunately my old box crashed the next day so I couldn't experiment with him.

You're right about the Metro tank pilot, if you hit the Scorpion with one rocket it will kill the pilot and the tank survives. That way I don't have to run to it.

Metro is your baby, I won't do that one unless you give up. Besides, I'm not very good at SLASO.

Oh, I see.

Probably invisible, but invincibility is possible too.

Oh no, I was talking about the Pelican pilot. You know, the Pelican carrying the scorpion tank that hovers over the building?

Well, I have no intention of giving up as I haven't even started it up with Blind.

Is that true, because you seem to know a lot more than I do.

I have knowledge but not great skillzorz.

Pelican Pilot - Oh, I see, then the one in OS is just invisible to other AI. He did bleed when I smacked him.

Edit: I just watched your latest vids. Do you ever trick GoW?

Ok then.

Ah, but loss of blood does not determine if a character is invincible or not.

No, I didn't, but I did get it (or GoW 2) with my Xbox 360 Pro (if I recall correctly, I got it from Gamestop, it was the Christmas bundle, and GoW or GoW 2 came with it, as well as Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda).

Unfortunately, I had to return it so I could get Halo 3. Also, my mum and dad didn't like the appearance of the enemies. It's a good thing the Flood weren't on Halo 3's game box or they might have not bought it.

Edit:

Unless you're talking about Keyes. She doesn't shed blood when meleed.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I think SLASO wouldn't be impossible if it wasn't for Black Eye. Blam that skull.

Yup, it's a killer. That and Blind and you're screwed. It's also how I find out people who lied about beating H2 SLASO. I ask them how they get around the health problem and they usually slip up in their answer, especially if they are unaware about what breakable objects mean. Yeah, Black Eye sucks but that's what we have to deal with.

However, I'm glad BE is there because it added so much to Sputnik and launching.

Actually, Black Eye is useful. You'll find yourself losing less of your shields than you normally do.

See, it's because of the shield that people get killed so quickly after coming out of cover on Halo 2 Legendary. It seems to be some kind of behavior thing programmed into people's minds that originates from having a shield. That's why when you charge out there in Cod after playing Halo, you'll find yourself getting killed.

The real problem is Mythic skull. The last room of Cairo Station would be possible if Mythic was turned off.

Even though you know I respect your opinion, my personal experience with SLASO (including Blind) is that BE is more of a killer for me. I feel I could beat the game if only Blind and BE were not turned on. But if only Mythic were not turned on I still don't think I could beat it.

Anyway, for the people who have not tried SLASO (including Blind), good luck when you do.

I guess it's because I look at it in parts rather than a whole.

The problem with Mythic is that it makes the last battle in Cairo Station very difficult. The last battle would be easy if Elite shields required only one plasma pistol overcharge.

Nobody's even come close, that they can back up. Not even one level has actually been documented. You'll not find anything on H2 SLASO on YouTube.

For Mythic (SLASO) H3 and Mythic (SLASO) Reach people also did it segmented so I'm not sure why someone doesn't film at least one level. Metropolis would be my guess.

This.

Only one choking point: the tunnel

Get past that part and the rest might be easy.

I finally finished my Halo 2 Cairo Station most skulls on extensive walkthrough.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

I cover the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd areas and I show a little of the 4th area.

I am extremely happy that Fraps recorded in 3 minute intervals. I separated the video into parts instead of one video. And the best part is, it's only about 1 hour and 30 minutes long! I included all my failures and I only cut off several seconds at the start since in order to record the desktop while playing Halo 2, I have to record the desktop first.

The reason why it's so small is because I set it to half-size, so I don't run out of disk space. I already got a bunch of Halo: Reach videos taking up a lot of GB. The Fraps videos, although 3 minutes each, took up 105 GB total.

So onto the technical stuff (a.k.a goodies).

The easiest way to kill Covies is when they stand still. To do that, make it so that you can only see an arm or leg and shoot at it with plasma rifles (I took down an Ultra Elite this way). They usually won't move so they're easy targets.

Hell, plasma rifles are your best friend. The bolts are easy to see and the rifles seem to have a lot of ammo even with Famine on. Because of GBP, they can score headshots. The BR should be your secondary weapon (unless you don't have the headshot problem). I stayed away from the plasma pistol due to it's nerfs. But how they will play in the last battle on this level I still haven't found out.

Johnson seems to be the only way to survive the hangar, but don't push him down. I mentioned several times that sword Ultra Elites can melee Johnson into the wall. Well, it seems that it happened again. I died shortly after.

I broke down at the end and had to resort to cheats to see what happened to Johnson. And when I found out, I went out (or tried to) plasma grenades blazing (4 to be exact) since I knew I was dead meat.

As I detonated the grenades, I thought, "sweet Jesus, I'm going home and I'm taking you Covies with me mother-blam!-s" only to find out that I was still invincible... and that they were still unharmed. I could hear the Covie bastards laughing. But worst of all, that Grunt in front of me. I knew that plasma grenade was unavoidable. I could sense that this was one of those grunty Halo: Reach veterans.

You can only imagine the horror as I moved that mouse to disable invincibility... that's right, I had to, I had no choice. Johnson was gone and I had to show face. Reverting would mean endless attempts. I would be insane. So Ia ccepted my fate and unfroze time.

And I got shot down. And with a great blue explosion, it was all over in seconds. The last thing I heard was this:

"Ding-dong, the Demon's dead!"

---

So this is what I learned.

1. Mythic (no deaths, no save and quit) Cairo Station is impossible. The level is too long and there's no room for error.

2. But LASO + Blind skull, that's possible. I have already saved and quit at the last checkpoint. And I didn't use cheats before I saved. So I could attempt it segmented.

3. I should have used infinite grenades so I could have taken out every single Covie in that hangar in a more epic death. In fact, I think that's what I'll do next.

  • 06.27.2011 5:22 AM PDT

Nice post. What were the skulls you had? Or just name the ones you didn't have on so I can move your vids to my OP.
