Sorry for the bump but I think I found something new.
I was trying to get a sword Ultra Elite from the elevator (that goes to the Ranger Elites) to the elevator to the bomb room, just for fun. When I tried it with a Ranger, he got deloaded. So anyways, when I got him in the elevator, he stopped swiping at me. I even got the marine in the bomb room right next to him (poor sucker never noticed him until I made him touch him hehe).
Seeing the potential, I started up Cairo Station Legendary with relevant skulls.
And since I'm such a poor speedrunner/unlucky fellow, I modded to get to the bomb room (it was just being unable to die from damage. Unlike matg globals changes, this can easily be negated by switching from the modded map to the unmodded one, although this must be done after quitting the current game). To do those hangar battles like Monopoli takes some serious quick fingers, quick thinking, and a lot of mentality and focus. I have the former but lack the latter ones.
Now where's Black Eye you ask? I turned it on when I got the cp in the bomb room.
So here it is. The moment you've been waiting for. This was the closest attempt I got to killing the bomb battle Elites with 10 skulls on (skulls that weren't on were mostly irrelevant i.e. Iron, IWHBYD, Famine, GBP). This was initially great but a sneaky Elite caught me off guard (I lost my overshields) and I made a fatal mistake when I showed myself without cloaking. Hence I consider it my second best attempt. They would have been a much more easier experience if I already had 2 overshields. I can't long distance sword fly on the Elite ranger like Monopoli so I'll just have to improvise.
Unless you're a pro with the sword (which I'm not), stick an Elites with plasma grenades (1 per Elite, preferably after killing the previous Elite). One of 3 things will happen when an Elite is stuck:
-Elite doesn't take out sword but will want to melee you
-Elite doesn't take out sword but will want to melee you and still seems to fire his gun (or maybe this is the same as above)
-Elite takes out sword
But first, it is imperative that you position the crate well. That box in front of you next to the dead minor is your only reliable cover. You must move it forward but not so that it goes past the smaller crates.
Anyways, if he wants to melee and he climbs up the crate and it's too risky to go around and assassinate, you can avoid his melee by staying right next to the crate. The Elite will overstep and will be open for assassination. You can also melee him when he's trying to melee you and then assassinate him.
But if he takes out the sword, get him to charge you and then immediately run into the elevator. He'll stay at the entrance for a while before moving away and that's when you assassinate him. Easy overshield.
P.s. One thing I learned from my experiences. I hate the Halo 2 Needler.
