I'm not sure if this has been discussed before I have never seen a thread on this. It may be a minor part of the game but I think its something to think about anyway.

I have been wondering since E3 2004 about how dual wielding crosshairs will work. In the campaign demonstration the SMGs crosshairs sort of combined together from the AR-like reticle into this.

Yet at E3 2004 if you picked up an SMG for the right hand and then a Needler for example it only displayed the normal AR crosshair like this. (not a very high quality picture but just imagine the AR-like reticle).

Now my question is to anyone who played E3, as I have not seen what happens when you dual wield two SMGs, when you are using two SMGs does the combination of crosshairs still happen? (or if you use two of any weapon really) Or does it only have the regular crosshair? They may have changed it since 2003 or perhaps the 2004 E3 build was unfinished so I'm wondering which type of reticles will make it into the game.

If you haven't played it then what do you think/hope will happen?

I believe it is the right-hand weapon's reticle that is displayed, but I would like to see a combined reticle. It would look cool.

dual wielding is SO hard with real guns...try shooting two .357 magnum revolvers rapidly...I can tell you accuracy goes down the toilet...

Yes I was also thinking due to the decreased accuracy and recoil brought on by dual wielding that perhaps there should be a bigger reticle to show the added inaccuracy?

I hope for a combined reticle. I liked the E3 2003 way. Hopefully the cross hairs at E3 2004 was part of the HUD that was still place holder.

a decline in accuracy would certainly be true to life...I couln't keep it on the paper at 15 yards...yes a larger reticle would be good. But luckily we have SMG's, accuracy by volume!

I think it just sticks with your current crosshair style based on which weapon you had in hand first.

I suppose that for plasma pistols and plasma rifles crosshair they would just have twice as many arrows pointing in the centre and the whole crosshair would be slightly bigger as we've said. But I don't see how you would combine the Needlers crosshair.

The AR reticule for the SMG at e3 was only a placeholder though. We'll just have to wait and see when november 9th comes around.

They might have different crosshairs designed for each combination.

No, it is the weapon in the right hand's crosshair. I just watched a video of the behind the sceene footage of Halo 2 multiplayer and they had a dual wield Plasma rifle and SMG. The reticle was of the Plasma Rifle.

Did you know that the cross hair for the SMG is like the exact same as the assault riffles from Halo? I mean the SMG in the e3 demo is just two crosshairs from the assault rifle overlapping each other.

yes I know the ARs reticle is the same as the SMG. I already knew that. The overlapping one is a combination. I was saying what system of dual wielding crosshairs will the final game have?

i hope they are just placeholders cus that would be kinda cheap of bungie to use the same ones. But in all likelyhood they are and when H2 comes out we will be blessed by bran new ones.Personally i loved the E3 03 smg crosshairs, those were cool.

but you must remember that your playing as a spartan so that means you pretty strong so if theres any reciol it should be a little.

also both weapons become less accurate and when you fire your target slowly goes up

Plus you have to take into account what weapons u'r using: plasma no recoil, needlers probably a little but very small, human weapons alot.

As someone pointed out earlier, i believe the combo crosshairs are only for the same weapon. OR maybe it's different in MP than in SP...

You guys are going to have a hard enough time dual-wielding as it is, don't muck it up by asking double cross hairs. Plus, you only have one axis for both guns. it wouldn't be possible control-wise.
