The Halo Combat Evolved M6D Handgun DOES actually have explosive/full metal jacked bullets. The cool thing is that it does a slight amount of splash damage (explosive damage effecting an area). Another epic aspect of the weapon is that it is fully automatic, (for you clueless people out there, that means that as long as you hold the trigger it keeps shooting) but fires slowly.
Two-three shots will take down a minor Elite's shields, (the dark blue Elites) and one more to the head, or two to the chest will kill it. A Hunter can be killed in one shot to the worm hive in its back, (orange stuff) or neck. Hitting the very center of a Jackal's child, or his hand, will cause him to react allowing for a quick headshot. Grunts can usually take 2-3 shots to the body/methane tank, or one shot to the head.
Flood Infection Forms (those little dudes) are always a one shot kill and a shot to the middle of a wave of Infection Forms will take out most, if not all, of them. Two shots will kill a Flood Carrier Form (the "fat round exploding things"). Elite Flood Combat Forms will usually die after 3-4 hits to anywhere on the body and one hit to the embedded Infection Form inside the chest. Human Flood Combat Forms will die after one shot to the embedded Infection Form or 2-3 shots to the body. Sentinels will usually be destroyed after 3-4 shots.
The M6D is VERY effective against vehicles (in campaign and multiplayer). A Ghost will usually explode after almost a whole clip. The same goes for a Banshee. A Wraith will usually take 2-3 entire 12 round clips to destroy. In multiplayer the M6D will kill a Spartan (with normal health settings on) in three shots to the head, or 6 shots to the body.
Here are the VERY few things the Halo 3: O.D.S.T. M6C/SOCOM has better then the M6D:
- It is a hitscan weapon, meaning that when you pull the trigger the "bullet" instantly goes to where you are aiming.
- If used with a modded controller, or a fast trigger finger then you can fire it faster then an M6D.
- It has less muzzle flash so you can stay on target
- It sounds cool...
Things that completely fail with the M6C/SOCOM:
- The suppressor does nothing. If fired with enemies around they will hear it no matter what.
- It does almost no damage to shields.
- The melee attack is slightly weaker when using it.
- If you shoot a Jackal Sniper or a Jackal Marksman in the head and they are wearing a face shield then it will do close to no damage.
- No splash damage.
- Do to the fact that IT IS the Halo 2 M6C with just a suppressor and smart-linked scope, does the same amount of damage, and has the same accuracy (when not using scope) it would be horrible against Elites, Flood (besides infection forms), and would not be a good in multiplayer (besides being quiet).

As you have probably figured out, i love the M6D. Anyone want me to compare the two assault rifles? LOL
Hell yeah, go for it. I enjoyed reading that.
