Subject: Trouble With Halo 2 Multiplayer Connection

Hi everyone. Perhaps some of you have had this problem and successfully dealt with it. I'm at my wit's end trying to solve it.

When I play Halo 2 for Vista, if I decide I want to play multiplayer, it is not uncommon for me to see no servers when I browse the list. I usually have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before they all of the sudden just show up. I'm not entirely sure what is happening. I have my firewall set to allow Halo 2, my Windows Live ID signs in automatically when the game starts, I've set the security controls (on both my Vista and my Windows 7) to full permissions, and have even tried running the game as administrator. I have this problem on both Windows Vista and Windows 7. Any ideas, guys? Many thanks in advance for your help.

Sadly there have been many many posts like this. Having to wait five to ten minutes for the server browser to populate is just one of the most complained about flaws with Halo 2 Vista.

Halo 2 Vista was poorly developed. The problem you're experiencing has nothing to do with your computer. I suggest not playing the game at all.

If you really want to play Halo on your PC I suggest you play Halo: Combat Evolved (if you haven't played it already). Although not perfect, Halo: Combat Evolved for PC is not nearly as flawed as Halo 2 Vista.

No fix, huh? Wow, it's not too often I hear of something like that. Oh well, I'm a patient guy when I have to be. Thanks. And sorry about posting what is probably number 1000000 of the same topic.

I guess that's why I play in windowed mode, so I can minimize and do something else while I wait.

sadly it the number of posts about this probably is in the thousands
halo 2 is a bad port with bad netcode and the company that made it broke up, we will most definetly never see a fix
