Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Why is it impossible to play at 30+ fps? Whenever I don't cap it and play at 200-300fps it feels like I'm using a 800dpi mouse on the lowest sensitivity. Is there a fix or is H2V just a terrible port?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I had the same problem. So did/do others. We issue warnings, but people keep going out and blowing their money on this piece of crap wannabe Halo 2. It would have been better to just leave the FPS cap in the original game, but no, the idiots Microsoft handed the reins to decided they were smarter than Bungie.

So yeah, this and other problems make it a terrible port.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

The only "fix" is to cap it.
Apparently Hired Gun thought all PCs were the similar or something like that (they worked on XBOX games according to the blog), so if you get over 60 fps, expect lag.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The bottom line is that H2v doesn't work properly with a mouse and keyboard. Fired Gun/Microsoft/Bungie really did a very poor job on this port. Shame!

Yes. I'm pretty sure the majority of people who even consider this game are Xbox players anyway. They'd rather use a controller, and the game delivers in that respect... as long as you have mid-range hardware and vsync turned off... too bad there's no in-game option to toggle vsync.

It's not just you. I don't really understand how it works, but it all seems to have to do with frame buffering. If you cap your FPS below your refresh rate, it should help. I use 75 Hz refresh and 60 FPS with the FPS_Limiter app.
