The Game

Between a rock and two sets of hunters. I am on the level just before the flood. I have two hunters before me, and assault rifle, no grenades, nothing else. What do I do? Try to just run past them? Or...somehow magically kill them with the AR?

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

Try to run a little, and when they shoot stay still. (In Halo: CE, if you stay still a hunter's bullets never hit you) Or just be a ninja and melee/shoot them in the back.

And when you finally kill the first one the second one has already called in reinforcements of another 4 hunters

This is a great opportunity to learn to sidestep hunters with grace! Go up to one of them, sidestep his melee, and melee him in the back. Or, if careful, you can just walk backwards from his swipe and hit him in the face for much enjoyment!

Dodging hunter attacks is a necessary skill to acquire, and it's generally pretty easy. They're only REALLY dangerous when other enemies are around.

Just jump and run. I would haul as back to maybe a covenant plasma rifle and just spam spam spam. Good luck with it though, 'specially if your on Legendary.

If there is NO pistol near you, I would recommend sidestepping. When the hunter goes past you, he bends over, revealing an orange weak spot. You can shoot or just melee him to death in that bit.

Proud tester of the Halo 3 beta.

Dive in like a king and melee them all to death.

Ay-men. No CE experience is complete without beating a Hunter to death without firing a single shot.

Wort, wort, wort!

Yeah... And it looks like dancing. Dance of death it is. You. Hunter. Melee range, mashing each other, sidestepping like in a dance. Truly a beutifull first person view it is.

Nice to see there are still men here among the boys! Melee is the most underrated item in the Halo CE universe. I get much more satisfaction by beating a Hunter (or any Covie) to death with my fist or the butt of the AR than by single pistol shotting it in the back or gut. Yeah buddy!

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Run and gun.

Pretty much run dude.

You can run past them. However, your Halo experiance is not complete if you can't dance with two hunters while beating them to death. A single grunt will eat you alive while you are shucking and jivving with these two though. Dodging their clumsy melee and avoiding their FRG is really easy. Even on legendary.
At the end of AotCR there are a pair of hunters 'sleeping' at the bottom level of the temple. You can sneak up behind them and whack them. They take a quarter turn to the side, but don't seem to really be awake to the danger. A half dozen blows to the back of their heads and they are down.
