I rented this game last night and played some MP with a friend. I noticed ALOT of things on this old game that will be featured in Halo2, I thought it was interesting that a game that came out so long ago could be so jam packed with cool features. Here are some things I noticed as I was playing that are either confirmed or desired in Halo 2.

Dual Wielding. Each trigger shoots both guns in TimeSplitters2. Not as flexible as H2.

4 Teams. Red,Blue,Yellow,Green.

Bots. 120 skins to chose from, 5 skill levels. They really werent that smart, but 8 5 star bots vs. you and your buddy = good times, mad replay value.

Tons of weapons. Some more interesting than others. But pretty unbalanced in some cases.

Team symbols above players heads. No custom symbols, and a little hard to see in the heat of battle, but they are there.

Lots o' Game types. Lots of interesting unlockable gametypes give you good reason to perfect the single player game.

Co-Op. Timespltters 2 has it um, 2.

Map Editor. Sweet!

Now, don't get me wrong, I think Halo and Halo 2 are better games, for graphics, story, production values, ect. I was just surprised to see all these things already in a Xbox FPS. They added alot of depth and fun to what would've been a mediocre game.

Halo 2 isn't that original.

Exactly. Seeing all these features I've been wanting so bad in a game so old, kinda makes me a little less impressed with the features in H2, its not like theyre all originall.

Timesplitters 2 also had some cool stuff like mini game challenges that unlock MP gametypes and stuff like that. things that probably wont be in H2

Time spitters 2 just doesnt have the Fun and Replay value factor that halo has. The formula for halo is just perfect thats why we still play it. I have TP2 ,but do I play it... no its thrown somewhere I dont even know where.

yeah, I really liked TimeSplitters 2 and the ridiculous amount of special features and variety in gametypes... such as shooting flying monkeys trying to break over a dam with a gatling gun. or the shooting flaming zombie's heads off with a shotgun contest. or even the snake, astrolander, and racing mini-games you can play with your palm pilot or whatever they call it. but for some reason TimeSplitters didn't seem to get as much attention and praise as it deserved... oh well.

but with as many multiplayer features as TimeSplitters had, it still wasn't as fun to play as Halo is. quantity over quality... meh. and it was way too fast, like Unreal or Quake. I don't really like frag-fest fps games where it's on ludicrous speed and everyone dies every five seconds and once you respawn your only chance of survival is to snag a rocket launcher and aimlessly pull the trigger before you die again.... there's not exactly much strategy in that.

but there were so many different types of missions in Timesplitters that you didn't really have time to replay them, I think. and yeah.

I'd still rather play Halo than TS2, Halo is a better game, its just some of the features of TS2 are superior, as far as extra games, challenges and things like that.

If a game as old as TS2 has bots, why would it be so hard to get them in H2?

Yay!

The thing that makes the Halo series really good, is that the storyline is movie material. The SP and MP modes are much more realistic than ts2. Also xbox live should be spectacular.

Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

Wow...

The last time I checked almost every game has different MP teams colors and weapons!
Everyone has symbols for there teams!
AND EVEN OLD BUNGIE GAMES HAVE CO-OP!!!!!!!!!!!

What other similarites have you noticed?
oooh how about this, TS2 was made by game programmers right...
Halo was also made by game programmers, There must be some kind of conspiracy or something! Bungie must have copied EVERYBODY'S stradegy to game making! (sarcastic)

Sorry to attack you and all but look around you, every game has what you just described!

Believe me, when I shot up a baddie with 50 rounds from a (cool) minigun, and the suckah still did'nt drop, I was dissapointed. I'm used to more realistic Halo combat, thats not to say shooting a baddie with 50 + bullets is'nt fun, just not as cool as Halo.

Well, yeah, obviosly lots of games have this stuff, but seeing so many of the touted features for H2 and then some in an old ass Xbox game is just a bit of a eye opener for me.

i used to play ts2 with my buds on my cube. This game was so glitchy, you'd make maps in the map editor and when you use them in deathmatch the game would crash and such. There we so many different bugs, we had names for them. Once i bought my box and halo i never played ts2 again, and the storyline sucked, only the last level rocked cuz u were actually in the games current timeline. Halo 1 might not of had all the features ts2 had, but halo had the maps and a much more enjoyable system.
