Speaking from experience, I can safely say this: Doom 3's graphics _OWN_ Halo 2's any day. In fact, they beat the hell out of Half-Life 2's as well. I'm running Doom 3 on a 4-year-old PC on 800x600 with medium settings and it already has better graphics. I can't even imagine how much better they'll look when my ninja rig arrives and I can pump up the resolution and settings. I do believe that Halo 2 will have better gameplay, however. Keep in mind that id Software's goal is never to make a game, more of a tech demo - they make most of their money by selling their omnipotent engines to other companies. Almost every first person shooter that came out a few years ago was powered by id's Quake III engine. Also, the multiplayer is not limited to 4 players - soon mods will be released that make all kinds of changes and vastly expand the multiplayer component, after all the Doom 3 engine does have the most potential seeing as how its lighting and special effects are so good they don't even exist in Half-Life 2 or Halo 2.
You had some good points but you are not speaking from experience because there is no way you have played the final builds of 2 of the 3 games you were comparing. When you can play Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and Halo 2 all for the PC or all for the Xbox then you can make those comparisons.
In fact, saying one is better than the other in any way is pretty pointless at this point and all the opinions are going to be biased and full of speculation.
