Theres all these good post on bungie.net and all those bad ones. Why not have a system where we can rate a thread, so we know which ones to read and which one to avoid?

I remember Sketch talking about a Karma system that they're looking in to.

...Soon.

Now I was confused about that. Does the karma system rate a thread or the individual?

And the Karma system might rate both the user and thread. The trick is finding a solution to how it can not be abused.

It's been discussed over and over on these forums along with a search feature. All they've said is Soon™.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

I really think a karma system would be a bad move for the forums. Picture this situation: You've just created a thread about Rap, when some totally anti-Rap user comes in and just neg rates the hell out of you and your thread. It could have been the most decent, rule-abiding thread on the forums, but now it has so many neg rates that everyone assumes it's spam. Basically, if someone didn't like you, or disagreed with your thread, they could destroy it, so-to-speak. Also, imagine the damage a spammer could do with that kind of karma system. He/she could just go in, neg rate every thread in the forum, and destroy peoples' karma.

P.S. Neg rate is short for negative rate. Sorry, I'm getting too used to the rvb.com forums. (Another site where karma is a double-edged sword.)

(Hmm, that's odd. Why is my post time two hours earlier than everyone elses?)

Away to keep it from being abused if only the Moderators had the power to give out/take Karma points. Their patrolling the forums anyway, if they see a good thread/post they can stop in drop off a few points and go back to patrolling. They see spam or flamer, the swoop in take away that persons points and lock/ban or what ever.
