That's right. My plumage is brighter than yours.

I'm suggesting a new feature for the irrelevant 'Newer Hotness'. It's a 'Thumbs-up, thumbs-down' feature under a Bungie members user name, right under date joined and last post. It lets other users give them either a '+' (plus) point or a '-' (negative) point. After the point is given, there negative points would show up under there date joined and last post, looking like this:

+ Pts: *# of + pts here*
- Pts: *# of - pts here*

It would let us know if a thread is worth looking at before we even have to look at the post (also it could correspond with antihero's thread rater that he just posted). Ideas?

It's likely to be featured if the proposed karma system is implemented.

Although, it's not something I'd like to see. I don't want to get put down because some spamming idiot takes a dislike to me, and it's the same for all users. Just imagine how users could abuse it with a disagreement. They could just keep making new accounts, negatively rating a user etc. I'm sure the web team will think of some way to optimise the feature if indeed it is ever implemented, but I fail to see how they will do it at this moment in time.

Only problem is abuse. Many people would click the minus button all the time. I don't know how that could be prevented either. Maybe we should just have a positive score. If you like someone, click positive. If you don't liket them, click nothing and shutup.

Or each person could choose once, like in a poll.

I agree. If this system goes into place, then each user should only be able to rate each other user once, no more than that. This would help to alleviate the problem of people pressing the button multiple times, but the multiple accounts thing could still be a problem.

wellllll...from the karma systems i know, you usually set a mandatory time peroid between like how often a person can give karma points to or whatever, and could only rate each post once. like say a half hour....someone would give karma or like take it away and have to wait 30 minutes before they can do it again, and so on and so forth. the only problem is multiple accounts....though someone would really have to have no life to make enough accounts to really make a mark, and that would just prove that they had no life what so ever.

Someone wouldn't even have to make a new account. There's ways to do it without making that long and tedious journey through Microsoft.

Do it like the RvB Karma, you have to get say atleast +5 to give + or - yourself, and everytime you get a +1 you get, say.....2 points to give to otehrs, and if you get a -1, then it is up to you :S

If someone gets to -25....maybe a ban..... or maybe i am just being a bit too harsh :S

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Hmm certainly an interesting idea. Don't know if it would work. It could be abused and people might just not bother to read that thread then.

Thats why I'm waiting to see what Bungie actually does exactly.

(I tried posting this yesterday, darn bug!)

The only way i can imagine to prevent abuse to a karma system is to only let the Moderators to have the power. Their already patrolling the forums, they see a thread/post they like they can give them a point or two then continue on, they come across something they don't like, just give them bad points then ban/lock. Simple.

I like the Karma System idea. I know it's probably already going to be implemented, it would be a wonderful way to straighten this place out.

Holy shizite this still going?

Ok, I had an idea to solve the abuse problem the other day, but couldn't post it (wonder why). Banning. Simple soulution. Every time a person is banned, their votes are erased and all is well. Plus there should be something on the site that logs in excessive negative feedback.
