Non Nobis Nascimur - We are not born for ourselves.

To put it simply, Bungie hadn't thought of them yet.

But if you want a more logical explanation.

Reach was were a lot of weapons got made and since Reach got glassed all that technology got lost.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

That doesn't accurately answer his question in regards to why Halo wars has better weapons, because Halo Wars takes place on Harvest before Reach is glassed.

Bungie had to get their game to market in time for Microsoft's launch of the xbox. From what I understand there were many, many things they would have liked to include in the game that may have been dropped out in their haste to get the game ready. They had the energy sword and Fuel Rod Cannon that ought to have been available to players and were not.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The Autumn's weapon cache was destroyed during the battle of Reach, I believe. This left very few weapons for the Marines.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Because it's the first game of the series silly.

Because they knew they didn't need a bloated weapon selection. Halo 1 succeeds in many different areas because of its simplicity.

Halo's 2 and 3 have a LOT of weapon redundancy, and many of the guns feel just about the same to use as each other, and it makes each individual weapon feel a heck of a lot less meaningful. Much of the time the games become more about having a "more powerful" weapon instead of a "more adapted to what you're doing" weapon.
