Can...I...post?...yes!
Read the following at your own peril. I am having trouble explaining to myself why I posted this, which makes a nice little paradox for you, reader, but not for me - because the paradox as already there - I think.
So, I have the freedom. But what sort of freedom is this? Is this the freedom to post every thought in my head? Is this the freedom to make a difference in the world? You might say that it is all of those things. However, the freedom itself is not the goal. The goal is to harness the freedom for something good and just. We, here, have harnessed that sort of freedom. Is our work grand? Is it just or right? I leave that to you.
However, I would like to point out, quite simply, that when the great glitch descended upon our lives, all was not lost. Of the many freedoms we are given here, there are two extraordinary ones. One of those freedoms is the freedom you speak of, Kilroy. The other has been revealed by Recon. That is the freedom to read a post, consider its value in the meaning of your life, and walk away. Sometimes, you might feel angered by a post. In that case, continue on your way. Use your freedom. When you see that a point can be made, walk away - unless your point is so overwhelmingly important that you are impelled to post. In all other cases 'walk' away - unless, of course, you're posting about the dual freedoms of this forum.
If you actually read this far, it's only to remind everyone that due to the style of these forums, unnecessary posts and threads devalue the worthwhile ones. Whenever you post, think if your post is one of the worthwhile ones. Posting without that self-reflection is wrong. For this reason, I have posted less than I ever have - however, I have attempted to make sure that every post was more worthwhile*. So, remember to put quality abov quantity. Don't try to convince yourself that posting is worthwhile, simply walk away.
