Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Subject: Halo 2 on Windows 7

So today I bought Halo 2 for my computer. Before I installed the game, I downloaded the Map Editor and the Dedicated Server. So then when I installed the game, it asked for my activation code. I entered it in. Then when I tried playing it, I got this error, "LIVE Gaming on Windows failed to initialize. This may be because another LIVE Gaming on Windows application (such as the Halo 2 dedicated server) is running on the same machine. Otherwise reinstalling the game may fix this problem." So I unistalled the game, then re-installed it, and when it asked for the serial key, I put in the same one, and it said it wasn't valid. Now, I don't want to have to buy the game again, so if anyone has any suggestions, then please post them...

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I ran into similar problems and had to re-install my whole OS. I didn't find a better solution. Doing this costs one installation credit. After those "credits" are gone you have to beg for a new activation key or buy another copy of the game. It's a really sweet system.

PS, my H2V is now a very pretty Master Chief coffee mug coaster. GFWL support will only issue one replacement key. After that one expires, you have to go out and pay again. I squandered 2 activation keys while trying to troubleshoot the myriad problems I had with the game, on a system that runs 99% of games flawlessly.

n357 is right, just return it.
Halo 2 Vista is a game which disgusts everyone which includes Halo fans and non-Halo fans.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.
Xfire: JacobGRocks.
50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Oh no, not this, this took me MONTHS to fix. Lol.
Go into your control panel, and then the fixing section, cant remember what it's called.
There should be an error panel asking you to fix something, click on it, follow the instructions, it should work.

No.
As the name suggests, Halo 2 Vista was made to run on Vista.

I understand that, however, I have made it work on XP... I just was asking if there is a way to make it fully compatible/ (IE achievements and online play)

No.
The people who made that patch, were not bothered to finish it, so...

That is unfortunate. If I had the proper education i the matter however, is there a possibility I, (or anyone else for that matter,) could make it so?

possibly.
If they can get H2V working on XP for campaign, multiplayer isn't far off.

I have a friend who I believe to be capable of such, or at least, smart enough. Once I see him again I will bring it up.
