I just installed the game on my laptop and I basically need to know how I can start it with safe mode since it would make the game run smoother.

If anyone knows, let me know. Preciate it.

Yo people,

Yeah, safe mode Halo really sucks, do you know your computer? If so, show it's details.

Spartan 012.

Oh TRUST me, its way better with safe mode. graphics are actually better than without it. Without safe mode it looks like the game is on 16 bits....lets just say safe mode makes the game playable, where as without it...its pretty disgusting. Only way I can turn safe mode on is when I shut downt he computer on purpose while the game is running and when I start it again I get an error message saying if I wanna start with safe mode. I don't really wanna keep crashing my laptop just to play halo everytime LOL...so I need to know how I can manually turn it on.

my lap top specs are:

AMD sempron 3000+ (1.8 ghz)
512 mb ddr
80 gig drive
32/64/128 enternal video memory

I believe you add -safe or -safemode to the end of the taget line, just like you would to activate the console. Try putting -use11 if you want to improve the graphical performance but don't want to limit the number of settings you have on.

Simply put -console in the command line.

Rightclick the halo shortcut icon and then select properties. In the target line add a space after the " and put in -console -safemode.

No luck with that -console-safemode tip....

there has to be a way...halo doesn't have any ini files?

You need to add a space inbetween commands. There should be a space after the " at the end of the original text and another space after -console.

Your advice works...but its a different safe mode than the one that comes on after the game crashes.

With this safemode there is no sound and its not in full screen. I can live with that by making my desktop smaller, but there is still no sound....

Thanks for the help though

You can also try these

-useff -use11

They both lower the graphics. useff means Fixed Function. I think this is what you were talking about, so try it out.

It all came down to this..all I had to do was press and hold ctrl while a double clicked on the Icon. That brought up the "safe mode" option I was looking for. Its now got sound, and its on full screen with crisp graphics. Well, thanks for giving me some tips

I have never heard of that before. I'm gonna try that right now.

edit: I think you just had a previous error that brought up the safe-mode option. Holding ctrl down when double-clicking the halo icon does not bring up safe mode.
