Hey I just had an idea. What if someone started a gamer releaf fund.... Games systems and controlers and such.... It is just an idea.. I know I would gladly donate my old systems and games to those that lost them in a disaster like this. Hey it would be a great way for parents to motivate kids to do their homework and such if it could be simply donated LOL.

brother jsut sent this to me:

More from the Police Officer. I'm typing as fast as i can while he talks to us:

He's only hearing bits and pieces. The people in the city are shooting at the police. They're upset that they're not getting help quickly enough. The fireman keep calling because they're under fire. He doesn't understand why the people are shooting at the rescuers. Here it is 5 days ago the Mayor said get out of town and nobody went and now they're pissed.

The National Guard was at the Hilton, but now the Hilton is evacuated. When they said the CBD was gonna get 6 feet of water, it seems like everyone evacuated.

He turned the corner onto Canal Street and it looked like a flea market. People breaking into every store, going to the neutral gound (median) and trading and selling everything.

They broke into Winn Dixie Monday Night. Do they steal food? No. Cigarettes and liquor. Store was a mess. All the meats were going to waste so the districts went over there to salvage food for officers. Many cops have been eating MREs.

The Iberville Housing Projects got pissed off because the police started to "shop" after they kicked out looters. Then they started shooting at cops. When the cops left, the looters looted everything. There's probably not a grocery left in this city.

Over 30 officers have quit over the last 3 days. Out of 160 officers in his district maybe 55 or 60 are working. He hasn't seen several since Sunday. HQ is closed, evacuated. No phones to contact them.

excuse the long post http://mgno.com/

There should be a thing for gamers only to donate to. Then spread the word to every online game. Im sure if you could get CAL and CPL and all those organizations involved you could raise ALOT of money.

Sketch, Recon, you have the full support of the Oklahoma Division of The Trolls. I have set up a collection jar at work, and we are going to take the money down to the local Red Cross office for them to use however they need. And if I'm not mistaken, most of The Trolls are giving blood or donating in some way towards this crisis. We've also been discussing other ways we might chip in.

Kenner flooded rreally bad and had sharks swimming in the streets, and also loting is so bad in N.O. marshel law was declared.

THANKS SO MUCH BUNGIE FOR HELPIN OUT!!

The difference between America and Iraq is that these kind of things happends once in a week. And no body will help them, remember them or anything.

the difference is that Iraq is another world away and what haas happened is here in our own country. i have family and friends there. so to be honest i can care less about Iraq at this point. This country tries too hard to help out other people(which is good, dont get me wrong) that we start to lose track of what we should be doing in our own country. we need to focus on our own people at the moment. Its this whole politcal correctness thing is gone too far. lets get things squared away here and get things going again before we start sending millions of dollars abroad again... like i said before theres a time and place to go help other, then theres a time when you have to help yourself. this is that time

btw--pics from a web cam from the frontlines of New Orleans. these guys should get mad props for what they are doing. the 1st line of info are these guys. forget FOX and CNN and what not. you want to know wants going on down there read these guys site. their literally in the middle of it.

"I wanted to check in first and let everyone know that Outpost Crystal is still a viable and functioning camp of civilization in the face of the lawless barbarian hordes who threaten at all times to turn what's left of New Orleans into the war of all against all. It's like Mogadishu out there, but we're in a fixed defensive position and prepared." good luck guys!!!!!

I live in Baton Rouge, about 45 minutes north of New Orleans. We got some heavy winds but no flooding. A lot of my friends are still without power, I got power back Tuesday and just got cable back yesterday. I lost the roof to my car-port, but that's the extent of my damage. I have a lot of family in the New Orleans area that I still haven't heard from. My wife's grandmother and uncle in New Orleans has lost thier houses. Her uncle is a fire fighter in New Orleans, he's been giving us updates. It's really scary what's going on down there. I mean stuff that nobody is really thinking about like what happened to the zoo. New Orleans has the 5th largest zoo in the US, he said about 90% of the animals are dead. He was driving his boat to rescue somebody off of a roof and passed a floating zebra carcass. Another bit of craziness, as if the people down there didn't have enough to deal with, he rescued a guy in Metairie (suburbs of New Orleans), the guy told him to be careful and not get in the water because he saw sharks swimming around. SHARKS!! in the streets. It's unreal. Everybody here in Baton Rouge is just in a daze. All the grocery stores here are bare, almost no gas. I've heard reports that there's an extra 30,000 to 60,000 people in Baton Rouge and we don't have the supermarkets to keep up. My mother-in-law is now housing 6 extra people. We've had people with no power over none stop. One girl I work with says she's got 26 people staying with her. We've got numerous aunts, cousins and uncles from the Chalmette area (where the levee broke) that we haven't heard from. We don't know if they got out or not.

do they need blood because i would go donate but i haven't seen anything on the news saying there is a great need for blood?

Yes, they are need of blood very badly. They've turned the PMAC (LSU's basketball dome) into a hospital for critical patients and they need all kinds of med. supplies, including blood.

A good site to find out how to help out is http://www.dinorizzo.com That's our pastors blog. Healing Place Church is working with the red cross as a collection site. If you want to know what they need check out there or just think about what you need in your daily routine....remember, these people lost everything; bathroom supplies like toothbrushes, towels, soap. Kitchen stuff, pots, pans, cups. Of course food and water or just money.

Thanks so much Bungie and the bungie community, it was a nice suprise to see this on the front page of the site. Keep up the good work. Oh, and it would ease my pain a little if you could add a mlg playlist :)

I'm a Marine Biology student at UAB Alabama-Birmingham. I spent my entire summer at Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Alabama. I will being going down to Mobile, and hopefully if we are allowed to Dauphin Island, next weekend and many after to help with the clean up. If not for school I would be anywhere I could to help. I was in South Florida when Andrew came through and I remember all the contributions the rest of the nation made. I'm doing all I can to return the kindness that was given to us. I play online with a good friend of mine who grew up in Biloxi that attends the University of South Alabama in Mobile. I'm still waiting to hear from him and his family. May god be with them. Any Alabama gamers interested in joining me please send me an Email at Scooter490@aol.com. I'm still trying to work out all the details but so far they will be glad to take any able bodied individuals willing to help.

update from mgno.com
10:12 am
Update and Thanks
1. There is a mass exodus for the Mississippi River Bridges (Crescent City Connection) from the CBD. We are not sure what's going on, but we are assuming until we hear differently that people are fleeing the city. So if you're watching the feeds, that's what you're seeing -- throngs of people moving toward the bridges.

2. Cannot confirm any of the following: Superdome fire, 2 shot police officers this morning. We hear all kinds of stuff, but no way to verify those.

3. Can confirm: The National Guard, FEMA, the NOPD, and City authorities DO NOT have the city under control. There are live radio feeds for the National Guard comms and NOPD comms which have been circulating the web, and you can listen to the chaos and disarray for yourselves. I am not going to post the links, but I'm sure others have and will. I doubt the government's ability to reestablish order without a full active duty military presence to crush the mob mentality. This of course will mean no civil rights and everyone being treated equally -- as a criminal. Rock | Hard Place.

4. I'm happy to report that my parents are accounted for. My mother made it out to Jackson, Mississippi, and my father, the only person more strong-willed than myself, is still in Harahan, healthy but refusing to leave. Mounting a rescue operation to bring him into the Outpost Crystal is a very low priority mission at this point. He's gonna have to tough it out for the time being. For him to read later, when this is all over: "Dad, I love you. I have to say it -- I told you so." Stubborn guy, my dad.

5. More pics coming soon.

More later.

I was wondering if there was anyway I can volunteer to just help for a couple of days. I figured since it's a three day weekend, I'd have enough time to drive down from KY to New Orleans help out for a couple of days and then come back. I already tried calling the Red Cross and they said they wanted me to have three days trainning beforehand and wanted me to commit at a minimum seven days of volunteering. Anybody have any suggestions?

Where is the UN? Sitting on their fat -blam!- a's counting the profits from the oil for food scandal. Sorry to get political, I really was trying not to talk about any of this here, but I've had enough. Whoever said we're getting a tastes of our own medacine, bs! Do you know how big of forgien policy we have? Good God, we help others more than ourselves! How can you link Iraq to this (no, I'm not talking about the people who die over there every day from some A hole suicide bomber)? So you say because of what we are doing in Iraq, Katrina came back as a counter and demolished NO? Go shove your head up your butt. We, us, the US, has probobly sent more help to the tsunami victims than half the world did combined! It is time for us to stop thinking of others and stop to treat our own wounds for a little while. Is what you ftards are saying is that, "Oh, lets stop releif work right now, let the city tear itself apart, thousands more of our own die. That way we can help some other people in another country and forget about our own leg that just got ripped open." You people make me sick. So UN? Whats up with you? Gone onto the America hating bandwaggon too?

Mods, if you feel this is too political remove it, I just had to get my thoughts out.

That's a good idea and it's a shame that training is required but the Red Cross has it's reasons for requiring training (they've done this many times before, so I sure the required trainning has merit).
