Einstein
Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.

I've been watching the news and just can't imagine how it must feel to be down there. It just seems so horrific. I still have some lawns to mow while nearing the end of the summer, and I'm going to give that to my parents (they will know where to send it).

I am also going to be praying for a long time for all of the victims and that things can be rebuilt.

And SpiritsWithin it doesn't seem like you need to be in this thread, you are not helping in any way. Negative comments are not needed at this time.

Is it possible...can the leverage of the sheer numbers of devoted halo fans create a collective donation so large that Bungie, Microsoft and the gamers themselves would have a positively definite voice? Could our collaboration of efforts create a tremendous donation?? How about this: Bungie - Is it possible to create some sort of bonus download that the Xbox live subscriber could purchase for a dollar? Take that dollar or a greater percentage of it and pool a gigantic fund. This might be too simple and there is a lot behind making such an idea as this materialize. However, the size of our community, the significance of Bungie, the backing of Microsoft and most importantly, the people who need our help are all serious reasons to make this idea an effort.

yea its really sad that new orelans is flooded. its going to take them 30 days minimum to pump the water out but first they have to rescue the people from their houses.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
News here says that it will take 2-4 months to repair the levees good enough to start using the pumps... so 30 days probably wont cut it.
It'll take more from what I heard. Apparently the damage done wasn't as much the huricanes fault as the lake's fault. It seems that the hurricane acted as a catalyst for several lakes (3-4) to shift position into the lower New Orleans ground, that's what's causing the flooding. Pumping three lakes out of a city will require an insane amount of organization. Hopefully the goverment will be able to fulfill the 3 month deadline.
And I'm sorry for your loss, I just heard 200,000 fellow countrymen (Mexicans) lost their homes to the hurricane.
I hope those people die. They're idiots for staying there as they all knew it was coming. No transportation my ass, most of them had a pair of legs to leave. If they didn't they're probably better off dead. I feel worse for the plants as they absolutely could not evacuate because they're living things too.
I am Naols, brother of TeeBagginBandit. I am currently inshore for a short duration in order to take care a few things before being dispatched off to New Orleans. I will be helping in the efforts to blocking up the levy breaks and evacuating people out of the city. i will be leaving in the next couple of days. I have been on a few trips to New Orleans to survey the devistation and this is all I can tell you.
In the evening sun set, with the sun setting reflecting off the water in the once great city...correction, still great city, it looked as if Xibalba had opened up. (For all those who don't know what that is it's the gate way to hell). The pure horror of the devistation is so great that it has brought many great and powerful people to their knees and has cried. I will be spending the next few weeks there and would like to keep constant contact with you. That's why anything you need to say to me needs to be directed through TeeBagginBandit. Good day to you all and I feel your greif.
We are going to ignore this post, by this monster. We have determined he has a peanut brain that sees issues from one side. Do not honor him with any reaction any more.
Just so you know, the bungie store is donating a percentage of it's profits to the red cross disaster relief fund and have a t-shirt that you can buy called 'beat the flood', $15 of it's price will go to said fund. Bungie or it's affiliates will net no profit from this.
I read a thread saying bungie should do something like this. They did. Just thought you should know.
BTW I am moved deeply by the spirit of generosity and kindness of halo fans. You're awesome.
I have taken liberty of Donating a decent amount of money to the red cross via Phone and sending a box of children friendly DVD's since i work at a DVD store(wont say name). when i turn the tv on and see the things that have happened and how its all just getting worse it saddens me. I see looters and such but i know most do it since they need to eat and some are just abusing. but i try to put myself in there shoes since i have gone through 2 hurricanes that have ruined me and my families lives. 1992 hurricane Andrew in Miami destryed everything we had to move so we moved to Puerto Rico. 1996 hurricane George Destroyed our home by way of flood since there was a river not far from our home. we had to start from nothing for a second time. its hard to lose your things. especially for a gamer like me, i lost my mint condition Detective Comics, Nintendo, Games and other things i loved. i can trully understand what they are going through and send my deepest condolences to all the families that have lost a loved or loved ones. wish i was richer to seriously make a big difference. but i did what i could and hope it helps. thank you
This is my response to all of the negetive people:
Please, take a deep breath and think about what you are saying. Every person has the capacity to hate or love (at least be gracious). Which side your're on is a choice you can make every day. For most, the only way to sympathize is to relate to another's situation. Seeing those people and judging them by the choices that they've made in comparison to the ultimate outcome, in this case, just isn't fair. If you could speak with anyone who has been lost do you think that they would have stayed if they truly knew life was about to end? What if that was you? What if you were there? Fully aware of a devastating storm and fully prepared to stay because you had to. You had to because your wife, your mother or someone you loved was recently diagnosed with an illness that forced them to a bed-ridden state requiring your daily attention? This is just one of a many possibilties that people in New Orleans could have faced. Think about the unlimited variables. Unfortunately, attitudes such as yours create anger, hate, violence, war and the inevitable nature of mankind. Everyone does have that right to say what they think, yet the context in which it's said applies value to the words.
Didn't everybody ON these forums already give Bungie 50-80 dollars? They are rich, we don't need to be giving them money. If you want to "beat the flood" donate to the red cross.
Gee, I really wish I could help with this situation right now. My parents aren't financially perfect, and have never really donated to any disaster funds in the first place. I haven't even got a job yet, but when I do, I'll donate. I can't go and help in New Orleans myself, because I'm sixteen, from England, with little experience of what to do in such a situation, and I've got college to attend to soon, some very important stuff.
I guess the best I can do is donate some money when I get that job. But anyway, I'm sure you guys have made a good difference to this disaster, and well done Bungie!
its like War of the worlds down there shut the hell up! hey we broke away from britian so just shove it and America is more astablished than britain !
Hey hey, let's not turn this into a debate. Honestly, I don't like my country that much, and yes, I'm British. But I CAN say that the British troops in Iraq put a lot of effort into controlling that particular situation, so there's no point in bashing a country just because of one particle's comment.
Anyway, let's all get back on topic here...the crisis at hand.
