There are plenty of times when someone makes a mistake, and wants their thread locked. Or maybe they didn't follow the rules, then some helpful members pointed that out to him/her and then they could lock their own thread.

Or maybe if you make a thread called "Describe the poster above you in 3 words" and you want to lock it, you could do so yourself instead of messaging Recon.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

BU|\|913 5UCK! @|\|D 50 D0 J00 M0DZ!!!! *locked*

That will be a consequence. Though i have backed this idea in the past.

Wait, I don't understand what you mean. Are you saying that someone will make a thread saying something stupid and then they'd lock it right away?

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Yes. So people couldn't flame them.

Actually, i messaged Goweb ^^

It would be a nice addition, but i can see it being abused by spammers and the like possibly locking and unlocking their threads to couse some mischeif. or hijinks, or some form of hulabaloo.

And we definitley dont want hulabaloo =/

How about deleting our own threads? That would be nice.

To the lock/delete your own thread idealists:

We have moderators for a reason. There are also, better reasons as to why we do not have privileges like locking/deleting threads. If the maker of a thread spams, he could just delete/lock his thread. Deleting the thread would rid the evidence of his spam. Locking the thread wouldn't really solve anything because his spam would still be visible.

The Mods can tell when a thread is getting out of hand. They will either blacklist/ban the spammers of that thread, or lock/delete the thread.

Mods could blacklist people who abuse it.

Deleting threads might even be better, and would prevent abuse.

Well, actually, I think that's fine. 90% of the time, at least, people are not banned, just the thread is locked. Deletion would do fine.

How about individual knock out?
U can knock individual people out of the thread that causes problems instead of shutting down a whole thread just because like 2 or 3 ppl argue over somthing thats not really that important anyway >.<

That would be abused far beyond comprehension

Yeah i think that's a great idea. You can edit your posts, so i think you should be able to remove the post. There have been a number of times when, by accident, I've submitted the same post twice and therefore i usually just edit the second post, removing all the text, and replacing it with "*Entry removed* - Sorry about the double post."

It would be great if I could just remove it all together.

Being able to remove your thread if It gets out-of-hand or drifts from the subject intended would be a very good idea also.

Please, this would be and awesome feature to implement.

I'll be on my own side.

people would say something and lock the thread so nobody can argue wwith them. like "Halo 2 sucks and the sniper is -blam!-!!!" Locked. nobody can say anything, but then again, we shouldnt be responding to them in the first place.

you get what im saying right?

Threads can still be useful after the poster gets what they want.
