I have been thinking of the millions of tries at the Vidmaster Endure Achievement I've had and my lust for that s3xy Recon armor over my vacation so much I am dreaming Halo! I want to HAS RECONNN!!
After watching another seemingly unhelpful YouTube video about playing on Alpha Site, blah blah blah, I came up with a great idea!
For people like me who have mothers persistent on never allowing you to play for a full 2 hours + to get this achievement, I have found a possible life saver!
I haven't tried this yet, but I would like to hear first from the Bungie community...
On the map Alpha Site, instead of doing what is recommended by most experts and staying back at the stairs, etc. - I thought of pushing all the way forward to where the enemy ships drop the waves of troublemakers.
Not all the way so the Phantoms can shoot you and your teammates under the roof, but just enough so you get a clear shot of grunts, jackals, and the rest of them on the floor beneath that platform. I even believe those random benches lying around in that area could be of use for headshots and quicker kills (when the Phantom leaves of course).
Also, since there is a set of stairs from the platform that the enemies spawn on down to where your team is located, the enemies are funneled. Here, they are funneled through only ONE set of stairs, rather than two stairways when your waiting all the way back. Now all you have to do is just launch all your grenades and blast through the enemies before they get past you.
Once a wave is done, you and your group could move up to that platform where you massacred your enemy and load up with much needed ammo and grenades (which I suggest to keep for later when the brutes come by).
I thought since the enemy waves only come by in a single Phantom, it should be easy to pick 'em off from where they spawn.
I know this is a new idea, and I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but wouldn't it be nice!?
Tell me what you think...

The reason everyone tells you to stay back by the stairs is because you are able to get a clear shot at the enemies before they are within their grenade throwing range. If you stand by the phantoms you will do fine at first but quickly get over run later on. Plus the heath pack are all the way back were you spawn. What you can do, with some practice, is to annihilate the first wave of grunts and jackals with a grave hammer. Just slam the gravity hammer while they are still in mid are for an easy overkill and soon a dream crusher. This doesn't work too well with brutes and chieftains and especially drones since it usually takes more than one shot to kill them all and you can be easily over-run.

Pick a Spot With Some Cover, Dont Die, Dodge Grenades/Explosions, Dont Run Into Hordes of Covenant or Where They Group Up, Dont Betray Teammates, and Rack Up Extra Lives. That is your best bet.

I like to play firefight but without MM it's kinda tough to find people who also like to play it semi-regularly. So if you are looking for someone to play with send me a FR. I have all the vidmaster achievements but don't have a problem in helping out...especially if you are doing endure. SC

or just go to lost platoon and get to da chopper

Lost platoon was great with all the running over brutes and stuff...
But how could I improve this new strategy...

1)You could rocket lawn-chair the enemies before they hop out of the Phantom...

2)I am looking at a bird's eye view of Alpha Site right now and I was reminded about the pillars near where the enemies spawn, which could be used for cover for every team member (there are like 6 pillars)

3)I found on the map that there are TWO rocket launchers on Alpha Site and TWO Snipers... (here's the link to the picture= http://media.photobucket.com/image/alpha%20site%20map/vishra8 5/alphasite2-2.jpg)
The second rocket launcher, from what i see on the map is found on the left platform and the second sniper on the right.
It should be a slice of pie to have team mates pick off enemies with these newfound weapons...right?

4)I need more ideas

Sound good?

Join The Spartan I Project Today!

SIP is here to help you achieve a 1750 gamer score, unlocking all of the armor permutations for both Spartans and Elites.

Not too bad an idea, but I wouldn't recommend it. I've used the same strategy to do speed runs twice, but it was risky.

My fastest time running Endure on Alpha Site is 1:22. Unfortunately, one of the guys ended the run just as the announcer was saying "Set Start", and it didn't register. That's why it only shows 4,3,5.

Most recently, we did it in 1:27. This time, we made sure to give it a few seconds after the 5th set started. We already knew we hadn't beaten our best time, but it was still a good run.

Hammering the first wave is very effective when it comes to speeding things up too. That will cut a good 10-15 minutes off the run alone. Unfortunately, this is just a very time consuming achievement.

Those secondary weapon locations are just ammo boxes, not actual rocket launchers and sniper rifles. So no luck there.
Lost platoon is the fastest map for me to get endure on but only if you have good committed patient players.

Endure was in my opinion designed to be difficult to get to make Recon somewhat exclusive. People with over barring moms, noobs, and people with bad connections most likely will not get recon making recon a symbol of achievement for a committed skilled quality player.

I have completed endure and the other vidmasters many many times and do not consider them difficult. I see the main difficulty in getting good players and staying connected. All of the endure times of under 2 hrs were only possible because of extremely skilled players, great teamwork and communication. If you can't get 2-3 hours away from Mommy you will most likely not get endure. I will be willing to help you but only if you can ensure mom won't turn your xbox off before the end.

My mom was fine at first, but later after many tries and more persistence by me, she started to get antsy, which makes me antsy in the game.

Whatev, i have been away from ODST and these Vidmaster achievements for too long (vacation) that i am pretty sure shell be alright
Thanks
