Although, their are many to argue that it is not Bungies' responsibility to destroy rumors before they grow out of control, it really is. Bungie is a company based off of consumers products and whether or not the products sell is why it is Bungies responsibility to its customers to set things straight. If they didn't want it to grow out of control and have so many people become dissapointed with it then they should have posted something or never had put that ILB.com at the end of the theatrical release. That was irrisponsible of them for doing something like that. To blame those who are young and say it is their fault is also irrisponsible. I don't care either way when the game is released, but I must state my opinion and to have it locked up because it goes against what is happening is only something to stiffen the fact that there is something to hide.
Bungie's rumor policy has always been simple and obvious: If you don't hear it from Bungie, don't believe it.
NOWHERE has Bungie ever suggested that Halo 2 was going to be released in August.
NOWHERE on ilovebees.com is there the suggestion that the game or a demo is going to be released in August.
Bungie doesn't address rumors directly until they've spread to the point of stupid proportions. Anyone who was around for the "Halo 1.5" garbage would know that. Why? Because Bungie has this expectation that when they say "Don't listen to rumors" that people will actually heed the warning. Apparently you're saying it's irresponsible of them to expect people to remember that if Bungie didn't say it, it's unofficial and not to be believed?
I have not, nor has Bungie, faulted anyone for their age. I've openly questioned the intelligence of anyone who believes this August 24th release date stuff. Why? Because I think that's a stupid theory. Why? Because Bungie said November 9th, and KNOWING BUNGIE, that means November 9th is the date. What made it more stupid is the fact that people, once they decided that "HAD to be" what the countdown was for, stopped listening to reasoning. That is not Bungie's fault. The fact that, despite the intelligent and obvious arguments against the shaky 24th release date theories, people STILL disregarded any other possibility, is not Bungie's fault. The fact that when Bungie realized the rumor had gained a lot of momentum, and Frankie posted on Bungie's behalf to SHOOT DOWN the rumor, and people STILL BELIEVE DESPITE OFFICIAL WORDS is not Bungie's fault.
So on the 24th, if anyone gets banned for kicking up a -blam!- storm because they were wrong the whole time and they're mad about it, it's not Bungie's fault.
Bungie in May announced Halo 2's release to be November 9th. Bungie's official Halo 2 FAQ lists Halo 2's release date as November 9th. Frankie came and said Halo 2's release date is November 9th. "Bungie's responsibility is to destroy rumors," you say? They already HAVE, but people aren't LISTENING to them.
