It doesn't add up. And what is wrong with speculation, hype, and even conflict? This is what marketing is all about. We can only wait to see what the newest developments are (i.e. August 10th) and go from there. To all the naysayers about H2 coming out early, if it is done, it will make a ton of money already due to the pre-orders... the longer it is out there, the more people will buy (word of mouth, reviews, etc) before the Holidays and for the Holidays.. this is all contingent on the product being completed. There are NO other games on ESRB with similar release dates (Nov) that have a raiting yet... this is speculation and healthy debate, nothing more, nothing less. Have fun with it and lose the defensive posture.
Have fun with the mystery in the meantime. All of us would love an early release date, if it happens.. great. Keep up the good dialogue.

Lets look at this from a marketing point of view. If they release halo 2 now they will blow other games out of the water. and becasue there r millions of pre-order already the halo 2 hype is at its max. so y wait and be showed up by lets say gta : sa aug. 24th date seems smart dont u think?? (and besides how do we no that halo 2 is not all ready done?? )

halo 2 IMHO is done and has been done.
all of frankies weekly updates are old and behind.
true if halo 2 is released now they dont have to worry about selling, there have already been 4 million copies reserved. No other game wil even be able to compete with it. Bungie will be filthy, i mean FILTHY rich. then come holiday season more people who saw how popular it got may get it for christams=more and more money.
TO SUM IT UP:
BUNGIE HAS NOTHING TO LOSE RELEASING IT EARLY!

we have no profe that they arn't holding the updates untill a few weeks laterpluss right now they are testing the game and fixing bugs (not just the testers but frankie and a few other developers have already been testing it some before the actual testing began) it would make more since to release it sooner because of halos reputation it dose not need a long drawn out add campain that would only waste money but word of mouth and reviews would be enough to get almost every xbox owner to buy it not to mention that when it gets game of the year everyone who didn't have it by then would buy it so why waste the money

Although, their are many to argue that it is not Bungies' responsibility to destroy rumors before they grow out of control, it really is. Bungie is a company based off of consumers products and whether or not the products sell is why it is Bungies responsibility to its customers to set things straight. If they didn't want it to grow out of control and have so many people become dissapointed with it then they should have posted something or never had put that ILB.com at the end of the theatrical release. That was irrisponsible of them for doing something like that. To blame those who are young and say it is their fault is also irrisponsible. I don't care either way when the game is released, but I must state my opinion and to have it locked up because it goes against what is happening is only something to stiffen the fact that there is something to hide.

Just because there's a website with a connection to Halo 2 that has a countdown on it that ends in august does NOT mean that there's an early release date. If you actually think that, then you probably would've been better off never knowing about ilovebees because you're not ready for games that require reasoning.

so why did they make the web site my guess because people kept on asking for more new info and this made people stop asking for new info the downside is that now people are asking for the intire game

Listen. Alll this arguing about the release date is irrellavent! What is however that all this shows is that we all love Halo and Bungie. So lets go ahead and cry and lets do a group hug.

Now now its ok.
Halo will come to us some day
But don't get to close because that would be -blam!-
I assure you MC will make those Covie pay.

So basicly bungie made a sight and stuck it in the trailer and isn't commenting at all on the subject except for frankie saying that it is counting down to a special OXM release and what could be so special about the issue that it merits a fake website with 3 countdown timers and a severely messed up (and geting more messed up) text in the batground that overlaps andis ocasionally hidden if it is really that special why would it need that much advertiseing

Bungie's rumor policy has always been simple and obvious: If you don't hear it from Bungie, don't believe it.

NOWHERE has Bungie ever suggested that Halo 2 was going to be released in August.
NOWHERE on ilovebees.com is there the suggestion that the game or a demo is going to be released in August.

Bungie doesn't address rumors directly until they've spread to the point of stupid proportions. Anyone who was around for the "Halo 1.5" garbage would know that. Why? Because Bungie has this expectation that when they say "Don't listen to rumors" that people will actually heed the warning. Apparently you're saying it's irresponsible of them to expect people to remember that if Bungie didn't say it, it's unofficial and not to be believed?

I have not, nor has Bungie, faulted anyone for their age. I've openly questioned the intelligence of anyone who believes this August 24th release date stuff. Why? Because I think that's a stupid theory. Why? Because Bungie said November 9th, and KNOWING BUNGIE, that means November 9th is the date. What made it more stupid is the fact that people, once they decided that "HAD to be" what the countdown was for, stopped listening to reasoning. That is not Bungie's fault. The fact that, despite the intelligent and obvious arguments against the shaky 24th release date theories, people STILL disregarded any other possibility, is not Bungie's fault. The fact that when Bungie realized the rumor had gained a lot of momentum, and Frankie posted on Bungie's behalf to SHOOT DOWN the rumor, and people STILL BELIEVE DESPITE OFFICIAL WORDS is not Bungie's fault.

So on the 24th, if anyone gets banned for kicking up a -blam!- storm because they were wrong the whole time and they're mad about it, it's not Bungie's fault.

Bungie in May announced Halo 2's release to be November 9th. Bungie's official Halo 2 FAQ lists Halo 2's release date as November 9th. Frankie came and said Halo 2's release date is November 9th. "Bungie's responsibility is to destroy rumors," you say? They already HAVE, but people aren't LISTENING to them.

I have said before I don't believe in any of what is going on. The fact that they pit the ILB.com only strengthens People's beliefs. Also the updates were shaky and slow. This led people to believe otherwise. Taking so long also led people to strengthen their convictions. They want this game more then anything and this is only showing Bungie and Microsoft that people truly are the vioce of god. In reality the people own Microsoft and Bungie regardless of who makes money. If they don't like you product then your out of business and out of luck. I don't deny they have tried to shoot it down, but in my opinion it is too little too late. I am sorry you get so upset over something like this. Maybe next time you will think before you speak.

Bungie has the responsiblity to dispel rumors?

THEY DID. Frankie said, "It is NOT COMING OUT August 24th". A bunch of idiots say "Frankie's LIEING" (I know how LYING is spelled, but many others don't)

So if the "customers" won't BELIEVE when Bungie does dispel the rumor, what more can they do? Draw you a picture?

If people choose not to believe, that's not Bungie's fault.

As far as Shiska thinking before he speaks, he's thinking a lot more than ANYONE who thinks August 24 is even a possibility for a release or demo.

The countdown timer is NOT for OXM. Every major game magazine has an issue coming out the 24th. It's probably a countdown for the release of INFORMATION. Story, weapons, enemies, etc. The start of a publicity campaign.

They have a responsibility being a company serving the customer. Remember the customer is always right. Ohh I think I am forgetting that currently in the US most businesses are forgetting this. I think it's time for a change. Yes it is. You are arguing with someone who will always win no matter what. Don't forget I am one of those people with a pocketbook that buys these games and I use my brain. Perhaps you should enlighten yourselves in good business ethics. Remember their are laws regarding such things. Whole reason they have a BBB. Better Business Beauro.

why would they make a website with a mysterious timer on the site a countdown to release oficial info why not just put the main site and tell people what the timer was for unless Bungie wanted people to speculate and create threoys about what the timer ment in which case this is the disired effect
