I don't think that they have thought very much about what they are doing. Perhaps they need to stop playing for a second and actually pay attention to their customers.

They have a responsibility being a company serving the customer. Remember the customer is always right. Ohh I think I am forgetting that currently in the US most businesses are forgetting this. I think it's time for a change. Yes it is. You are arguing with someone who will always win no matter what. Don't forget I am one of those people with a pocketbook that buys these games and I use my brain. Perhaps you should enlighten yourselves in good business ethics. Remember their are laws regarding such things. Whole reason they have a BBB. Better Business Beauro.

Oh holy crap.

I didn't realize I was arguing with a certified genius. One with his mommy's pocketbook even.

The customer is always right? Not in this case.

Let me spell it out for you, brainiac.

AN OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF BUNGIE (Frankie) stated that their product (Halo 2) would NOT be released August 24th counter to all the RUMORS. RUMORS created by speculation of their CUSTOMERS.

Customers who are CHOOSING not to believe the OFFICIAL STATEMENT of the company.

WHAT MORE DO YOU SUGGEST BUNGIE DO?

With your great knowledge of "good business ethics", you must have some idea.

Why don't you complain to the Better Business "Beauro"? I'm sure they'd laugh you right off the phone.

What about mods abusing fans? Shiska tells us not to flame or spam and then he goes off telling us we are all a bunch of idiots. If you ask me, he set this thread up for a nice bit of flaming.

tecnicly it was Bungie who put the video on the internet with the ilovebees.com in the oficial trailer for halo 2 made by bungie now why shishka i ask you would bungie put an ad (if the site can be considered an ad) and a countdown timer for OXM in there official trailer how in the world dose that make any since

Did I ever say "i love bees is not in any way, shape or form connected to Halo 2?" No. If the mods believed that to be true, we wouldn't allow discussion of ilovebees in New Mombasa.

However, just because ilovebees has a Halo 2 connection, does that mean that it has to be, beyond any shadow of a doubt, a portent to the early release of Halo 2?

NO.

What if it IS an OXM special? Some of us may recall that the first OXM Halo 2 special is still the #1 most sold issue in OXM's history. If it's big enough for Microsoft to make an ad campaign for it, then we can assume that it's not just two pages of screenshots we've already seen and a short blurb. What if the OXM magazine is just the beginning of a massive Halo 2 advertising campaign, and ilovebees marks the beginning of the REAL hype?

Now, a slight shift in discussion, but try to follow the logic train, here. Microsoft makes a website to act as an ARG. The point of an ARG is to work with people in the community to reason out the purpose behind what's happening. With me? Okay, so what we can all agree on, then, is that the people that made the ilovebees website WANT you to figure out what the countdown is about. So, then, if you are expected to discover the meaning of the countdown, then you can expect that people will not outright LIE if you are right. It wouldn't be a fair game if your answer was correct yet denied outright.

The solution, then? You were wrong about it being a release date. You were wrong about it being a demo. May it just be an OXM Halo 2 exclusive? Perhaps. May there be more? Perhaps. Should you be discussing the possibilities instead of fighting for shot down rumors? Definitely.

First of all thanks for the flame second of all if you had read any of the earlyer posts we explained why we don't belive the statement one of those reasons was frankie waited so long before he said anything about the site at all

Wow. What an outstanding come back. Too bad though it might have worked if you would have posted something worth arguing with. Have you ever debated something. You don't use evidence that is in disrepute when it has already been struck down. That is saying you have nothing to say other then to try to prove me wrong using something already used and failed. The customer is always right. I suppose you have never taken a Makerting class in the lease. How about this, you give it up before you make yourself look stupid. Stormy151.

Quoted from Shishka

"However, just because ilovebees has a Halo 2 connection, does that mean that it has to be, beyond any shadow of a doubt, a portent to the early release of Halo 2?"

I like the question mark leading me to believe that you do not completly believe that the game will not be released on the 24th. Although, you are correct in stating it is not any actual evidence it doesn't at the same time say that it isn't. If they had wanted to make an ARG perhaps they should have done it another way.

Maybe it's because he DOESN'T KNOW? Just because the guy is a moderator on a message board doesn't necessarily mean he's knows everything going on at Bungie.

And if he IS, maybe they kept him in the dark because they knew we'd hassle him about it....

The countdown timer is NOT for OXM. Every major game magazine has an issue coming out the 24th. It's probably a countdown for the release of INFORMATION. Story, weapons, enemies, etc. The start of a publicity campaign.

why would they make a website with a mysterious timer on the site a countdown to release oficial info why not just put the main site and tell people what the timer was for unless Bungie wanted people to speculate and create threoys about what the timer ment in which case this is the disired effect

EXACTLY! This creates what they call "buzz". Word of mouth spreads that something wierd is up with this website connected to Halo 2. "What could it be?" It's called "viral marketing". It worked with "The Blair Witch Project" (which unfortunately sucked), you tell two friends, they tell two friends, and so on and so on...

in responce to Shishka lengthy post

ilovebees is obviously halo 2 related the words on the site prove that well enough along with it being in the video so with that said i am not argueing that it is coming out on the 24th i am simple stateing the things that i think don't seem quite right and why i don't think the other rumors would work

Not at all the intent. Now that people are twisting my words around as well, I'm ready to lock this thread.

Bottom line: November 9th in the US, November 11th in the UK. What happens August 24th? We shall see. A lot of you are going to be disappointed, though.

You know I think anyone that would've bought Halo 2 in the first place would already know about it. Bungie doesn't need to spread the word any further. They have a freaking ad in the freaking movie theaters! Word of mouth has been spreading ever since the announced Halo 2.

it doesnt add up how he says "I DONT KNOW HOW IT GOT SO MUCH MOMENTUM" and "SIGH". he knows how it got momentum, they put the site link in the freakin movie prieview!!! who else would be responsible for a worldwide release of a movie that "accidently"
posts a website with a timer on it? just like the cortana letters? stop acting stupid!

I'd say the people that are acting stupid are the people that looked at a website for what is obviously just a way to distract people for a wihle, and saw the early release of a video game.

It's not the website's fault, nor the link in the trailer, that mass stupidity took over. It's entirely the fault of the fans who didn't logically think anything through and came to the wrong conclusion after building up a poor theory with no real evidence and logic that was poor at best.
Shiska, I think your a great moderator. And for the time I've been reading until the time I actually (finally) got a forum "name", I think you have been great. But I just have to say I really do not like your statement. No one that has speculated on the subject of ILB or the "timer" has had a POOR THEORY.

IT WAS SPECULATION, what do you expect? What did Bungie/Microsoft expect? I'm sorry, but I think it was a bad move on the part of Frankie to come out and make his statement. Seriously, HIS company comes out with an advertisement of a website that is played in a trailer, and all I hear from the Bungie staff is "What is this, how did that get there?", "All this bee talk has got to stop". I don't want to hear anymore crap that it was a ex-employee that made the site and somehow got past 100 MS employees in marketing to put it in a movie trailer, give me a break.

What I'm a supposed to do? COME ON BUNGIE, tell me what I'm supposed to speculate on, and what I'm supposed to think. Because apparently according to Bungie, we have been using our imaginations incorrectly...sorry, I won't let it happen again.

Halo 2 LE: PRE-ORDER CANCELED.
