I get ambushed by Elite swordsmen on legendary. After I killed them, all the doors were locked, and there was nowhere to go.

I read somewhere that a marine has to be alive in order to progress. Is that true? I spent about 30 minutes walking all over the room without a checkpoint and was reverted back to the beginning of the ship room sequence (after I had quit).

No. Keeping marines alive is certainly doable, but very difficult. I never do it when I go through there.

Did the hunters ever enter the room? If not, I'd bet that one of the covenant got stuck in the hallways somehow.

The ship boarding portion of the level, "Belly of the Beast" should take you onto the ship and then subject you to a closed room that you and your marines go up the grav lift to enter. Once in, you are correct, you get assaulted by several waves of covies including silver sword bearing elites. If you do not use the two side passages that do NOT dead end before the hunters show up you will be locked into the room and have very few places to hide. Two doors will permanently unlock once you have dispatched the hunters. If the hunters have not spawned and you have not been being pestered by silver elites that means you have a jackal or grunt loose somewhere, or repeatedly running into an obstruction in a corner/cut off area and you need to find him and kill him dead in order to spawn the hunters. They will not spawn until all other enemies have been rendered lifeless and the doors will not unlock until the hunters have been rendered same.

The marines are almost impossible to keep alive.. lol. And yes, I cleared the entire room of Covenant, yet the Hunters never showed up. I think its an Xbox 360 glitch. I've noticed that the reactions and framing are slower than playing on a regular Xbox.

Thanks for the help, dudes.

Yep, blame the 360, it is what I would do! It is the reason that I never bothered to buy one!

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

The marines don't have to be alive. Usually the doors open (one at a time) automatically after you kill the swords man. Maybe your game just glitched, if so just redo that level I guess.

Yup, that's definitely what happened. Even at the end of the level, I pushed the switch that releases The Covenant ship, and waited for like 15 seconds, then Captain Keyes died and then it started the end-level cinematic; only for it to be cut 5 seconds in.

Then it loaded the next stage (Silent Cartographer), making me completely miss out on the scene where Captain Keyes steals The Covenant ship.

I swear, Halo is so glitchy on the Xbox 360, or at least on mine. Anyway, I finally beat The Truth and Reconciliation yesterday.

Thanks for the help.
