Stone37 I'm sorry that happened to your house and everything; I think the two main reasons they're giving so much aid to the victims of Katrina is because a) it's a toxic lake that will supposedly take weeks or months to completely drain, and b) there are thousands of people who weren't able to leave. Combine that with the media that sucks every last drop it can out of a story, and then some, before it moves on in a month or two. Also, because of certain celebrities accusing people of being racist for not helping (which is completely stupid, it's hard to get someplace underwater), now everyone's trying to prove that they're not racist by offering as much help as they can. I guess I'm basically saying blame the media.

I agree with u MrFlammable. I live in Florida too and I also sometimes wonder why the same attention wasn't given to Florida when we got hit. But your right, the media is the one who gives all of this information out and televises all of the celebrities helping out. And another reason why New Orleans is receiving more attention is because more damage was done to it. Both Florida and New Orleans were hit by strong hurricanes, but New Orleans' problem escaladed past Florida's when the city started to flood after the fact that it had been blown away by Katrina. Plus, if you can remember, not too long ago the Caralinas were hit by two really strong hurricanes in the same year which destroyed very many homes, but they also didn't recieve as much attention for the same reasons as Florida.

It'd be cool if Bungie or Microsoft held a charity Halo 2 tournament. You know, charge an entry fee, give the winner some percentage of it and donate the rest to the Red Cross or something.

I understand you can host tournaments yourself, and I'm in the process of learning how to do it and how to direct the money to charity - I think it's a pretty neat idea, though I'm finding the technicalities of doing it myself a little cumbersome.

There's a funny story about donating to the Red Cross (well "funny" might not be the right word for it, considering thousands of people lost their home and loved ones, but just listen). Yes, many organizations, schools, churches, and other groups (much like Bungie) are sending money to the Red Cross for victims of Hurricane Katrina. One of those organizations is, who you're probably familiar with, PayPal. In just 9 hours, $30,000 was raised by donating users of PayPal. But the president of the Red Cross wouldn't take this money. He/she believed that the owner of PayPal, had access to the users accounts, and was taking money out of them. So the owner of PayPal simply said "Okay, don't take the money." After that, every PayPal member who donated money were refunded. But why wouldn't you take the money? It's not like PayPal is buying some thing from you. Why would the owner steal it? Well, it's not like Red Cross is scraping for money, so it's not too much of a problem.

I am helping in a different way, my college (Maine Maritime Academy) has had their training ship the State of Maine activated by the maritime administration, and the ship is leaving for the New Orleans area on the 8th to house the oil refinery repair workers. I have helped make the ship ready to leave by helping to overhaul the ships turbo, and clean up the engine room.

First of all I'd just like to say: I pray for you guys over there, and I hope things will sort out for you.You guys are the greatest people, in the greatest country, in the world!

Me and five of my friends got together and bought a T-shirt each so we could share the giant shipping costs to sweden. And we are all encuraging our friends and family to do the same.

And to all you others who don't live in the affected areas but helps all you can by giving money, blood and more to those in need: keep up the good work!

PS: My english sucks... so sorry if there's a lot of bad spelling.

I think you're right on with you're reply to my post, MrFlammable! I hate that this has become a ratial issue and the partisan polititicians are too busy blaming the other side to actuall care or help.

This is why I am not sending money to Hurricane relief! It's a long read, but whatever......

I'm somebody who has to make a natural disaster political instead of just helping those in need.

Moderator Notice: Yeah, I summed that long post up in one sentence. Don't make this political.

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

I bought the shirt, guys, and since Bungie's donating all September proceeds to the Red Cross, I'm gonna buy a cap and a poster from their site soon (once I've got the money). I live in San Marcos, Texas. Y'all may have heard of San Antonio (they're taking tons of refugees)? We're a small city of around 40,000 about an hour northbound on I-35 from there. My city is helping out too, something I am proud of, and so is my family. I am especially proud of my state, Texas, for its huge effort to harbor all the folks from Lousiana who lost everything. I'm proud of the rest of the country as well, and Bungie too. I think things like this just prove that folks care, and that brings a tear to my eye. Thank you, Bungie community and all America (and I'm sure all you Canadians helped out however y'all could, too) for y'all's great response to this crisis.
