The pistol is easily my worst weapon, and I am hosting an all night 16-player LAN party, and the most used weapon is the pistol. Most, if not all of my friends are great with it, but I am not. I get owned whenever it comes into play. Besides getting my ass kicked in multiplayer, are there any particular levels (I'll play them on Legendary of course) in the single player game that will train me to be l337 with the pistol? I use Legacy thumbstick settings, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, since look is on one stick, and I would probably move it right or left a bit when trying to move up or down, and visa versa. I use level 3 sensitivity.

ah my friend.... you are a truly good halo player... you know why? because you have the desire to be that good. i was like you pistol was my worst weapon. and then after awhile i am now the unquestioned best among all of my friends with it. So, here is how i believe i got better with it.

1.sensitivity on 7-10
2. REMEMBER! the first 2 shots don't matter if they hit in the foot or the head. they do the same damage. if the third shot is in the head, it's a kill. because the first 2 shots hit the shield.
3.strafe, it's all about them not hitting you.
4. tap the trigger, don't hold it. it is MUCH more accurate.
5.SEE THE ENEMY BEFORE THEY SEE YOU. I have never lost a pistol fight when i got the first shot off. A good way to do this is keep your eyes open, see as much of the level as possible at all times. Look behind you, etc.
6.if your going to practice on campaign, then aim for the head on grunts. later, you can aim for the elite heads, they are harder to hit. playing the campaign to get better is not recommended, you only get better by playing peeps that are better than you at lan parties.
7.never. stop. moving. ever.
8.don't jump or crouch, crouching is priceless in close combat (shotgun) but don't do it with a pistol.
9.don't play frusturated by your skill, use it alot and feel comfortable with it at all times, be able to use it close range and still pwn with it.
10. don't ALWAYS use scope learn the right times for it.

well, that's how i got good. not to mention hours upon hours of playing with it.

i love the pistol!!! you'll get used to aiming for the head after awhile and it will be like second nature to you..just keep practicing with it..also, i agree about the sensitivity, turn it up high, then create another profile you use for multi that is lower sensitivity..its a lot easier then..

Practice circling an object with the crosshair on it at all times, from differnt distances away too, an unzoomed pistol is alot easier for me. if someone has a sniper, don't agrivate them if you don't have cover. The key to being a success at halo mp, is RUN, STOP, SCAN. if you do not do this, you'll never be completely aware of your surroundings and someone will get the drop on you.

-aim aim aim,
-make sure the aimer is red
-dont ever hold the trigger down
-see them first
-use look sensitivity 6 or 7 any higher and your view swings around too fast any slower, youre dead
-do default controls on both and use inverted ( i didnt use any of that at first and then I changed and I was glad)
-pick a battlesuit color that fits the level and you will be harder to see (gray - hang em high, yellow-blood gulch
-headshots
- use lots of frags

the pistol is strangely one of the most lethal weapons in multiplayer. the only way your gona get good if u dont use it is by using it. sounds obvious but practice really does make perfect. go on a level with loadsa grunts and just practice head-shotting as many as possible. reload whenever you can and use it like a sniper. get people in the head using the zoom from far away.(u can kill someone with one shot from one blood gulch tower to the other) always always aim for the head. i sometimes take a couple of hits from my m8s just lining up the head shot but i always come out on top. using a good sensitivity is quite vital. i use 8 but most use 6 or 7. just gradually build up from 3 to higher and higher settings.
