Doom 3 got an 8.5 on gamespot, and the original Halo got a 9.7.
Halo came out of nowhere back in 2001. Considering GameSpot has seen coverage of DOOM 3 for over 3 years, they may have set their expectations a bit too high, as they attempt to be critical on almost every aspect of Doom 3. Then again, Gamespot's 8.5 is one of the lowest review ratings of Doom 3 I've seen.
I have Doom 3 on PC, but am gunna grab it on XBOX - co-op over Live will rock. =)
A game coming out of nowhere does play a little in the score, but nothing huge. The fact is. I have read like 3 reviews on Doom 3 and everyone says that it doesnt do anything new beyond the spectacular graphics. We all know that Halo 2 is bringing a lot of stuff to the FPS genre that not even Halo, Unreal Tourn 2004, or even Doom 3 brought. Can I say... vehicle boarding. Dual wielding. The no health only shield aspect. Unrivaled Xbox Live play. Evidentally no lag on XBL. Moving multiplayer maps. An Unrivaled amount of customization for Multiplayer. Unrivaled amount of multiplayer gametypes. The list goes on and on.

Arch Vile, you are a traitor. Halo's graphics come no where near Doom 3's, and if you can't appreciate the gameplay that was the norm a couple years ago, you don't deserve to be called a gamer.
Yup, you haven't played Doom 3 either. *sigh*
