Wouldn't it be cool, during a Halo2 online multiplayer match, to say "where are you, headhunter?" and hear his voice accurately broadcast over your Dolby Surround Sound speakers according to his location in relation to you?
In addition to being able to locate your team-mates by the direction and volume of their voices in your Surround Sound set-up, I'd like to be able to eavesdrop on enemy conversations, if I can get close enough.
And, on your radar, I'd like to see different shapes representing your allies in a multiplayer online game, so that you can tell who's who.

I think the voicechat is only going to come through the headphone mics that you have, and not through the game speakers. If they did come through the games speakers i think it would be dumb. It would distract me from the game, and sometimes i dont want to listen to some fool who doesnt shut up, so i take my headphones off, not turn off the sound all together. The only way i would do what your saying is if they had a headphone mic that was in surround sound. That would cost way to freaking much to be worth it.

they have mentioned that there will be proximity vocies. in other words if your within a specified distance of a person you will be able to hear them talking. think of the smack talk that will go on right before you get meleed across the back of the skull.

Oorr.. you could just kill them.. I'm sure you wont be able to hear what they're saying (jproximity wise) when they're waiting to respawn

I think it will be teams, or if it's ffa, not teams. Either way, your not gonna be giving orders to the other team.

There ya go, taunt your opponent just before you whack 'em.

Eavesdropping would be cool.
