Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.
omg not realistic stop game production plz
I'd like to first say that I known I'm notorious for starting decent fan-fics and then not getting far with them, but now I have a whole Summer to write chapters. I'll update more often. Anyway, I intend to stick with this.
HALO: THE CLOSING
October 2553, Sol System [UNSC Military Calendar]
10th Age of Resentment, Human Home System [Sangheili Honour Cycles]
Imagine. The entire galaxy, after eons of silence, thrown into war needlessly, the screams of millions echoing, breaking the silence of peace. Like the merciless waves of the sea, smashing the rocks, again, again. And then the galaxy becomes silent again, as if no war had ever happened.
And yet, one rock had refused to yield in this war. One rock had taken crashing wave after crashing wave, over and over, and in spite of this, it had broken the wave in two, splitting it, ending the storm. Remarkable.
"You think aloud quite often these recent months, Thel." a voice spoke, awaking Thel the Arbiter. Thel looked around, quickly, checking his surroundings. The purple bumps and curves alligned with holographic displays and native symbols assured him of his safe position on the Command Bridge of the new Assault Carrier, the Eternal Zeal.
"Yes...quite..." replied Thel, a little dazed, as he realised he had indeed been speaking his mind to himself. He was lonely these days. So much had changed so quick, it was like his own conciousness was lagging from the past.
"You worry of him. The Demon." Rtas said whilst taking his own Grav Chair next to Thel, "You must accept his death. We must press on...even in his name and glory, if you wish.".
Thel nodded and, with a few minor adjustments to the controls, sped the Zeal over to the small moon, known as "Luna". Near the moon, the Human ships were already bombarding the Jiralhanae encampments with ferocious and merciless MAC shells. Then again, it was their moon. Drop pods shot out of the bottom of their ships, leaving a plume of faint blue smoke in their wake. Thel opened up communications with the entire joint force.
"Humans and Sangheili alike; this is Thel Vadum of the Endless Zeal. We are dropping in additional Spec Ops troops to help the human ODST's clear the Brute caves that cannot be bombarded. Watch for purple drop pods, and do not engage. Mark....dropping!"
Thel heard the sound of a few hundred pods dropping out of the Carrier. Below, the battle was hardly intense; the Brutes and other Loyalist infantry were cowards, retreating constantly, only every now and then popping out of cover only to be neutralised immediately by Joint UNSC/Sangheili forces. Slowly, the Elites and ODST's pushed into the caves. Thel could see the flashes of gunfire and explosions from orbit, coming out of the dark caves.

Unidentified Deep Space Quadrant, July 2553
A hulk of grey mass slowly rotated and tumbled freely through the nothingness. It rolled towards a humongous, grey, mechanical world, blue flashes flickering across the gigantic planet's surface. The metallic rear end of a ship entered its atmosphere, burning bright like a firework or a flare; a beautiful red ember falling to the surface of the planet. A few seconds later, still in free fall, the ship exploded, as the temperature of re-entry burst it into flames.

"Chief, watch out for that-" screamed Cortana as she detected a piece of shrapnel nearly hit their Falcon aircraft. "That was TOO close!"
"You always tell me that." said the Master Chief. Narrowly missing the piece of shrapnel that had broken off the re-entering Forward Unto Dawn, he kept his efforts to regain full control of the Falcon which was falling nearly as fast as the Dawn was. Cortana was indeed helping him out by trying to balance the power to each propeller, but the Falcon was an obsolete aircraft, and this particular one was rather beaten up.
"We've just about got control. Try to follow the Dawn down to the surface, we might be able to scavenge it once it's crashed," said Cortana, appearing in figure form next to the Falcon's control panel, "I'll just keep monitoring the Dawn's systems and temperature-"
The Chief noticed her sudden pause; he knew it all to well. Something was wrong.
"What is it?" he asked impatiently.
"The Dawn - it almost looks like the temperature of the engineering bay is crit- CHIEF, STEER AWAY NOW!" she yelled loudly. Instinctively, Chief veered the Falcon in the opposite direction with his split-second reactions. The Dawn exploded as the temperatures created a gas explosion inside. Shrapnel from it flew in every direction. A single sheet of Titanium-A hurtled at the Falcon, ripping the right-hand propeller off.
The Falcon lurched and began to spin slowly, but more importantly, the altitude began to decrease rapidly.
"Chief! Hold on - I don't know what else - what else we can d-"
The Chief blacked out instantly before he even felt pain, hearing a loud ringing noise from his ears, his entire body immobile.
