I am trying to get as prepared as possible for November 9th, but I really wish there was more technical information about the game out there now.
I have a great Bose surround sound system, two recliner chairs for myself and a friend(co-op anyone?), and have been saving cash to replace my 32" Sony tv with a widescreen hdtv. The tv replacement is what is causing me the most grief...
I remember a while back, the Bungie official site mentioned in a Halo 2 FAQ that indeed Halo 2 will be playable in a 16:9 widescreen ratio, but that information is mysteriously missing now. People within this thread have mentioned that the 16:9 ratio is still confirmed, but I don't see that in writing anymore from Bungie. Seeing that Halo 2 is only going to support 480i and 480p resolution(not the hoped-for 720 or higher), I have been tossing around the idea of what type of HDTV television I want to invest in. I have narrowed my choices down to either a 50" - 60" Sony LCD rear projection television, or a 50" - 60" DLP rear projection HDTV from Samsung or Toshiba. I have done a ton or reading/reviewing of the differences, and I keep going back and forth between the two types(LCD vs. DLP), but the jury is still out on that part.
Knowing more about co-operative play would also affect my tv buying decision, since if there is co-op system link play, I may keep my 32" Sony and buy another X-box/Halo 2 game, just for co-op play with the new hdtv. If there isn't system link co-op play available, then I could sell my 32" and put that money toward the purchase of the new tv. The problem is that no one has officially mentioned whether or not this feature will be available. How can I gear up for Halo 2 when I don't know what to expect?
Still reading? Thanks for the patience. Perhaps this is could be considered as a little "venting" on my part. It is frustrating not knowing what to expect from the upcoming first-person shooter, as trying to base a purchase decision on missing game-supported details is making my shopping decision a pain. If you have web links to where the above questions can be answered, feel free to address them(no pun intended). Either way, Halo 2 will rock my world, as the original continues to do.
