I personally am enjoying the whole ilovebees.com thing. Imo it is very clever and entertaining :)

agreed. Its absolutely amazing. An incredible story.

My good ol pessimistic/realist mantra: "Always assume the worst. That way, you can only be pleasantly suprised."

I don't know how many people realize how similar the Cortana Letters are with ILB. The Cortana Letters were little hints of Halo backstory that people guessed at. Some people were close to getting Halo's story, some were way off. These hidden texts, images, and whatnot are just like that. Giving us little hints on Halo 2's story. What are we doing? Guessing what they mean. It's just like the Cortana letters. That's all this is. The countdown only points to the OXM and some Halo 2 info. Consider this Bungie's idea of an ad campaign.

I can't see how people say "Bungie never meant it to get so hyped" and things like that, obviously they did if they put the link flash in a vid that will be shown in Movie theatres world wide....I'm not a Aug 24th early release guy....im leaning towards a demo(i know what Frrankie sed) or maybe a HUD pic that says what ou will see...hence the "WIDE AWAKE AND OPEN"

I don't feel let down at all. I was never expecting and early release or a demo disc. I just want more pieces of the story, and I can't wait to see how all if this ties into the Halo 2 plot. If it even does, that is.

Yeah i feel the same way... it was interesting to hear bits and peices behind the story. I am not sure of this has been thrown out there and hopefully i wont get killed by saying it. BUT the 24 is a few months from the actual release of halo 2 right? could it be a cut off date for any new developement? and bug hunting and testing is the only thing left to do? anyway just throwing it out there it makes sence with a magazine being released because any information would be true and no more speculation wether something made it in to final release? anyway hopefully u guys wont flame me to badly!:)

I cant believe i wasted my trying figure out the ilovebees thing when suddenly, its just some -blam!- oxm issue that has halo 2 info. It was a huge letdown(sigh).

Although Ilovebees is what brought me here, I don't really care about it anymore, I just want Halo 2; I've already forgiven Bungie if there is no demo, and I am more excited about the game than ever before....they got me.

heres the thing.. doubtful they lied and there would be an early release.. nice to dream but seriously ... secondly definetly no demo coming out because frankly thats not bungie or microsoft style they wont release a demo before the actual game it would lessen the impact of the actual game. most likely its just going to be some new things they have yet to announce that they have implemented in the game and some new screens.. like more maps.. etc..

I think its been a great publicity stunt that has gotten more people interested if thats possible. also it has helped those that have been kinda of in a dull mood awaiting the release get hyped up again for the game.. it has done what it was meant to do.. it has been fun hearing all the theories and what not. I say thanks for ILB.

Ya know... Frankie said that no demo or early release would happen on the 24th. He didn't say Halo 2 wouldn't go gold on the 24th. Just a theory. No flaming please.

Hmm...I've never thought of that before... That wouldn't really be too weird for them to finish the build then, because marketing takes a while. But I don't think they will finish work before they absolutley have to. After all, this IS Bungie =)

Also, anyone who thought/thinks Halo 2 is coming out August 24th is A) Not a very smart person in general, or B) Has no idea how video game production works. Halo 2 is going to be the biggest game, possibly in history, and I highly doubt they would release it without an extreme amount of marketing, localization, fine tuning, announcements, etc. It is rediculous that anyone could believe this.

I think Bungie have done everything to plan. I first thought that the "bee" thing was a marketing scam. If you can cast your minds back... it was pretty hectic with all the new screenshots and the leaked screenshots. Bungie knew that they were gonna be under pressure with E3 and with all the fans. What would be the best way to keep all the fans on their toes and off bungies backs. The countdown sent every1 mad. bungie didnt really have to do a thing apart from setup the website. We were so confused about it we kept talking in forums and trying to reveal what it was about. So through this they managed to

1. Advertise
2. Keep fans happy or at least interested
3. Spread the word of halo 2 to even more people through the web...
4. Take the minds off of the leaked pictures

Basically what Im trying to say is, what would we, the fans of halo, do if they hadnt done the ilovebees marketing. We would be screaming for blood... after the hype of E3 we wanted and needed more info, bugie would have cracked under the pressure...but they did it right... so well done bungie. We feel let down because of the hype and Frankies response but they did what they had to do.... Life's a Saddam

First off, hope springs eternal, so I don't see the point in criticizing people who thought Halo 2 was coming out early. I'm sure a lot of people deep down wanted it to be true, even if they don't believe it.

Second, what's happening in three days? We know what's happening on the 24th, but what about the 10th?

Someone a while back captured the exact heart of the whole ILB "letdown". Something about opening a present, like:

"Gingerly opening and trying not to rip the gold foil with the silver inlaid ninjas, then inside finding an old cereal box with a dead bug inside."

Something like that. Yes, while a dead bug inside an old cereal box wrapped nicely like THAT is certainly interesting, maybe even intriguing, it still sucks.

IloveBees was microsoft/bungie trying to get more hype for Halo 2 not like they needed it.
