Subject: New Anti Spam thingy.

Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

It stops you from posting too many times in a short period.

Good feature.

But It restricts editing too.
I dont see why it should because generally your working on an already posted post.

Yea it shouldn't restrict you from editing. And l think that a minute is too long in between posts. lt should be like 30 seconds or so. l'm a fast typer and l think that it limits me to much.

Achronos is going to fix the editing thing. For now, he just doubled the amount of stuff you can create.

No, it shouldn't restrict from editing; in fact, it's not supposed to be doing that. Achronos mentioned that it'll be hot-fixed after the long weekend.

I don't like the 1 minute thing though. But well, it's necessary. Cause stupid people, do stupid things.

I'm trying to work out how anyone could make two legitimate posts inside of a minute from each other.

I've been trying to figure that out too. Even if you are a quick typer and quick reader and you have a great internet connection, I just don't see how you'd run into it very often. But then again some treat the forums like a chat room.

Ive had a few times where i have posted a lot or made a major edit and made a worthwhile post inside a minute. I do type very fast and answer people quickly. Mostly I get hit when editing. A few times though (3?) ive had to wait for it to say i can post again with 2 legitamate posts..

Does it reset the timer everytime you hit submit?

O ya, sometimes if you are just answering someone and it doesnt take long (a yes or no with simple explation) you can get hit by it. 30 seconds would probably be perfect in my opinon.

Myself, I've found it's only a bother when it interferes with editing... and that's going away next week. As for the other, well, the system's encouraging me to put all my answers for a particular thread in one post; which means it's working, I guess. :)

That's the main reason I love it.

I personally don't think people need to be posting that quickly anyway. If you're posting faster than the spam filter allows, you're either: spamming, not reading any of the thread you're posting in, and/or not putting any thought into your replies.

You'd be surprised

Ok, but what if someones thread is something simple like, "how do I link my gamertag to my passport?" bam in 20 seconds Ive gota n answer, on to my next thread. Next thread, "How do I create a group?" Bam I have an answer.
The system really only hurts people who are able to post quick and actually help others. I understand why its in place though. Maybe a points system should be put i n place or depending how long you've be on B.net you have wait less time to post again.

I'd say the folks it hurts are those who jump to a thread, don't read it and say "You are g4y!" or "I agree!" While it does hurt those rare occassions when you can give a quick helpful asnwer to a series of posts, well they can wait the 40 extra seconds for answer.

Hopefully, one of the benefits of getting good karma with the karma system, is being able to bypass the anti-spam filter. Or at least the 1 minute thing.

There is a reason for the anti-spam filter. Any way to bypass it would completely defeat its purpose.

Does it reset the timer everytime you hit submit?

I don't think so, I believe Achronos said it was on a rolling timer, There for it should only count a minuet from the last Post/Edit that actually got through, not every-time you click submit and get the "Red Text."

The only problem i've had with the system so far is the editing, And that'll be fixed soon enough. For those people who think the 1 minuet timer is too long, instead of typing like a maniac and hitting submit, take that extra 50 seconds to improve your post, spell check, grammar check, bla bla bla.

Only if your posts were along the lines of:

* FIRST!
* LOLZ
* i agree
* stfu [ninja-fied word]

Pruning posts like those out of the forums is worthwhile, isn't it? And I doubt that many more-than-one-line posts get written in less than 60 seconds; if nothing else, spend the left-over time proof-reading for really embarassing typos.

Then by the unwritten rule of B.net forums you must end the post with either [/sarcasm] or another type of information such as a mutated four eyed smiley face.
