Ya ive been watching the forums for ever, but I never talk and I had to make a new name so that is why my name says joined today.

So give him a break, there are lots of loyal people out there, its not about when you joined its about your dedication.

Sarge is the best :-)

Well back on topic.

I'd definitely agree that this neutrality by Bungie (whether purposeful or not) is good. It helps them as a company, since racial stereotyping generally does scare some customers away from the product. Business wise, it just makes sense.

Ok now I have to clear this up, and I am (partly) sorry for bringing it up

I, myself, can't stand people who try to define 'respect' in the forums It does not matter, and if you know me well you'd already know that about me.

If Jason Jones popped in here right now and said 'hey!', do you think I'd bash him because it says 5/2/04?

Sorry, not my style, and I feel sorry for those who think that way

Bungie's stance on race probably is that of every other major organization that is not a hate group, neutral. As for the way they protray Johnson, it reminds me of the guy from Aliens.

I wasn't ignoring you, Dude - actually, i forget whatever it was i originally thrashed you about. I've turned over a new leaf, with help from Oppiten and Maka, and am a humbled, righteous soul.

dearest BringThe Noise, why do you feel this thread never should have started in the first place? do you mean my idiotic thrashing of my fellow peers? or truly feel my thread is useless and futile? if so, you are a sad, sad, person...

Thank you all for this extremely... colorful thread. I'm sure those who've gone through it will agree it's been a bumpy, yet enlightening road. Best part is, it's not done yet!! I've learned a BUTTLOAD today, as have others.

I for one have learned that people can actually talk like they are in a shakesperian play, even while they are sitting infront of their computer, typing.

That being an ASS doesn't make you new friends, and being an understanding, open-minded forum-goer DOES!!

(i'm speaking of myself, of course.)

Not so much Shakespearian, but more...SMART.

we learned nothing new and about steotyping and how internet forums are 90% devoid of intelligence.
But I find them an interesting distraction.

Oh, haha thought you meant something about Hannibal Lector or somebody who had posted before. Usually don't come across anybody who knows the history behind screen names I pick.

Either way, you get +5 bonus points in History. Enjoy.

Actually I recall your quote too, about the fight in the shade, nothing like 300 some odd spartants with 80 pound armor and massive shields fighting in the worst possible formation for the greek terrain

Well there were 300 Spartans and about 700 of their allies (until the last day when all but the Thebians retreated) in total against a highly disputed , but nontheless massive number of Persians. The terrain was actually the best they could hope for considering the situation. They were on a suicide mission to buy the Greeks time and bleed the enemy a little, and they managed that because they were at the choke point of Xerxes' advance and put only a minimal number of soldiers in active combat at a time while the Persians threw their thousands at them.

Yea, right, the phalanx is the optimal technique to fight with in the rocky greek terrain.

Optimal to fight a vastly more numerous force on a small stip of walkable terrain (they weren't scattered across the mountains bud). Besides, the Phalanx was, at the time, the most effective formation possible. Really, the Phalanx is ideal for anything but hoplites supported by large numbers of ranged units (particularly javelins).

To save yourself some arguing, I suggest you read up about Thermopylae. . . Spartans just so happen to be one of my favorite groups in history.

Wow.

I mean, WOW.

I REALLY tried, you know?!! i REALLY tried to bring something to this forum, and it BLOWS UP IN MY FACE.

We're not all here to thrash each other, all right?...open your minds a bit to each argument before choosing sides.

I didn't mean to go off like that on Maka, but i really felt all he was doing was antagonizing me and just posting to piss me off, to make himself seem higher, and to do whatever.

I dunno.

And, if you read it, Oppiten, i said i'd been coming to this site for three months BEFORE signing up. How can one miss the "member since" thing on their avatar, anyways?

someone please close this. It's become a -blam!- TRAVESTY.

Ain't it weird that always seems to happen? And yes this thread most definetly blew up in your face

This thread has not been posted about since eairly May, why did you go all the way back, find it, and post it.

 • 06.05.2004 5:24 AM PDT

Probably for the same reason anyone posts to any of these forums... they feel they have something to add.
What shocks me is how incredulous the creator of the post got when the thread got out of his control, as threads often do. I've never seen someone get so upset about a thread going off topic. I mean, if a thread doesn't go the way you expect it to, why freak out and yell at people who try and add their two cents? Why not see where things are headed and see what develops? It's like sharing your Playdough with all the other kids in the classroom.
